Everyone deserves home hair coloring like this!
Okay so I am not a cosmetologist. I am not a chemist. I am not an artist. Nor am I anything close to patient. Boxed dye and I have had a long hate/hate relationship and boy am I glad that when I got a wild hair up my you know what before my birthday a few weeks ago and decided to take my hair by the roots (literally) and go wild (mid-life crisis maybe?) at home I picked Age Beautiful! In 3 short weeks I have taken my hair on a trip around the color wheel from dark blonde to light golden blonde with an attempt at ash blonde highlights (may I please get a Never Again!) to level 9 platinum blonde - where I got a glimpse of what the future could hold in 50 years if I didn’t pull my self back together, get some moxie and correct my mess with some gusto!!!Saving grace as I refuse to age gracefully? The hair color I chose is actually formulated to protect, preserve and strengthen hair despite the best efforts of home color artists like me who seem intent on sending it by the fistful down the drain, in a tangled mess of frazzled broken strands, despite their sleepless nights, endless internet searches, Reddit and Quora quests for knowledge, endless hours of “how to” videos, and somehow wading through all the mixed and often contradictory info and advice out there from professionals and home colorists doing their best to herd us like cats (because cats go wherever they please, thank you very much) toward a professional if we desire drastic change and don’t know what the hell we’re doing!I am pleased to say, however, that with some potential peril, major disasters were neutralized and major sanity was reached in the end. And while my now slightly darker, slightly more golden, and a bit more intensely colored locks are headed to the salon for a fabulous new cut after our ride on my crazy train, all in all, we’re not too much worse for wear!A few weeks of therapy, with intensive bonding, conditioning, love and TLC (yes for the hair, people!) and my tresses and I will be as good as we’ve ever been!A sincere thank you to the pros at Age Beautiful who offered their sage, straight forward and strategic advice. They also knew after I reached out the third time to tell me to get my butt to the salon and stop my weird science! So that’s what I’m doing! I am so grateful for these products designed to protect my hair and enhance it when the dance is done. And I have only the highest respect and gratitude to the professionals who valued me enough as a consumer to respond and help. In my humble opinion, this says First Class company taking care of all of us they impact from Amateur to Zohan, er Zotos (aka Master in Greek)…. My play on A-Z … lol!So today I am a happy home colorista with hair remaining to be styled and a fun story on the crazy train around the color wheel to tell, and lots of new reasons to feel blessed and grateful. Funny… never had the same feeling recovering from the damned stuff in the box with the Saran Wrap gloves. So best wishes to my fellow self coloring practitioners. May our hair stay strong and benefit as we boldly age beautifully!!

Love this hair color brand!
Love this hair color. It applies beautifully. It's a creamy but not thick and leaves my hair feeling healthy. I especially love that it colors my greys slightly lighter leaving them looking like highlights. As others have mentioned the color can come out darker so that's why I chose the 9rc and it leaves my natural level 3-4 hair like a very natural coppery ginger color. I will continue using this brand as it has become my go to hair color. Ps. I use a 20 vol. developer and it lightens my hair enough for me since I like to touch up my roots every 3 weeks cause I can't stand to see the greys and regrowth but I used to use 30 volume when I would go longer between touch ups but really 20 vol works just as good.

Staple in my hair care line.
I absolutely love this brand. I started dying my own hair after a previous hairdresser over processed my hair subsequently having 6 1/2 inches of damage cut off. Did some research on my own. I went into Sally and purchased this exact brand in 4 NNG. I absolutely love the color, the shine and it does not damage my hair. I buy one tube I use half of it every 3~4 weeks to cover my gray. Sidenote, it is darker than I anticipated, but I still love it. Gives an amazing shine.

Reds are beautiful but accuracy is a problem.
My natural color is a very, very light strawberry/reddish blonde, often mistaken for blonde or red, depending on lighting. I've been coloring for a couple of years. Based on my roots, I think I'm starting to grey. Blue eyes, cool fair skin, some freckles. The following are different shades that I've tried and my experience.7RC - This is where my journey began. After an unfortunate temporary blue color that wasn't fully washing out, and an even more unfortunate interaction with Nice n Easy red, I was advised to use Schwarzkopf bond enforcing color remover, followed by a good quality level 7 red. This was quite pretty and true to the box on day one. Being new to red hair color, I took a hot shower on day two or three and my hair faded to orange. It was the first time I colored after using the color remover, so I hadn't built up a good base red, that might account for the dramatic change. I used 7RC for a few months and the color became darker and more saturated, a little better on the fading front (with a lot of care), but I always felt like a clown, it was just too red, too vibrant.6RC - So I started mixing 7RC and 6RC 50/50 and that toned down the clown red, but it still was too vibrant. So then I did strictly 6RC for a year or more. It always came out crazy dark, like mahogany, reddish dark brown, but I could wash using normal temperature water and it would gradually fade to the prettiest copper. This was the color where I got compliments almost daily, whether it was dark or faded. Eventually I grew tiredof the dark and wanted to achieve that pretty copper on day one, not three weeks in 😄8RC - So I used the color remover on my 6RC hair and used 8 RC color for a few months. It was coppery, it looked more natural and closer to the color on the box. It just wasn't very flattering on my cool, fair skin that flushes red easily. Much like my natural color, it also looked very different depending on lighting, and could look too vibrant at times.7NRG - Around this time I saw the neutral reds for the first time. I thought this might be more flattering with my cool skin and eyes. It came out crazy dark, darker than 6RC, which comes out crazy dark. My hair looked dark brown. I had to be in the sun to show red, and it is much more resistant to fadng than the RC colors, though it has faded a bit, I still don't like how dark red/blackish brown the lengths are.I also don't love the condition my hair is in. Because of how much red fades, you have to recolor the lengths every month too. My wavy curls are now just sad waves, my once thick healthy hair feels dry and thin. Ive been using K18 a few times a month and heavily moisturizing products, and occasionally a bit of protein. I don't use the hair dryer too often. Now, I am aging, and I do have health conditions and medications that couldbe a factor, but I think that permanent color every month (my hair grows fast) may be adding to my problems. Currently trying to figure out where to go from here. I'm experimenting with Keracolor Clenditioner in Autumn, not sure it's sticking to my roots though...I have been very happy with Age Beautiful coverage. Reds are difficult and require a ton of upkeep, it's a known problem. 😕
