Easy to fit, and they work well
We have a very heavy coffee table in our front room, which was a bit of a challenge to move around when vacuuming, etc.I chose these stem/socket style castors because I wanted to recess them slightly for a neater finish - the round base was more suitable.Fitting - this turned out to be easier than I thought. As I said, I wanted them slightly recessed, so I started by using a 35mm Forster bit to drill a flat hole under the base of each table leg, to a depth of 6.5mm - which is the exact height of four 2p coins. I just kept putting the pile of coins into the hole, checking, doing a bit more, checking again, until they were level with the top of the hole.Once I had drilled a recessed hole into the base of each leg, I drilled the “main” hole into the centre of each recess, to take the socket sleeve. The instructions say to use a ⅜” drill bit, and to make the hole at least 1½” deep. Hmmm. All my drill bits are metric, and ⅜” is 9.53mm! 🫣I decided to drill a deep 9mm hole, then I jiggled the moving drill bit about in the hole a bit, to make it slightly bigger. 🤞Before I fitted each socket sleeve, I tried the actual castor shaft for size in each long hole, to make sure it went in fully. I then removed it, and fitted the socket sleeve - some gentle persuasion with a hammer and a lump of wood, and all the sleeves were in place. Finally, I pushed the castors into place - into the holes in the sleeves. A bit of wood and a hammer helps, if your hands aren’t that strong. They need to go right in, and they’ll click into place and spin around easily, if they’re in properly. Now it’s done, I’m happy with them. They feel sturdy and secure, we can move the table around, and they look quite stylish. Worth every penny.

Lovely looking and solid
Lovely looking solid little castors. I had to return them as the stem was too wide for my item's holes. Might be worth checking if your holes are already drilled or you are just substituting for other castors as I was. They do look good, the metal part is a dark brass colour, the wheels solid black plastic balls and the break does work and delivery superfast

... and life just got easier
I have a very heavy coffee table, thanks to these wheels I can finally move it without any problems. The table has also become 6 cm higher, which suits me very well. The wheels are solid and elegant.

Very smooth but the locks are stiff.
Good sturdy castors that glide very easily. The brakes need a lot of pressure to put on and off, but they are very effective.
