Some months ago a friend gave me a packet of Effie's Oatcakes. I thanked her, put them in the cupboard, and then forgot about them. Why? Well, first of all, there wasn't a sign of any chocolate (I adore chocolate, but it's the faintest of blips on my friend's radar). And they're ... beige ... taupe ... whatever you want to call it. And the name. "Oatcakes". *yawn*But then came the day that many of us experience now and then. Wanted something crunchy. A cookie-ish, cracker-ish kind of thing. I poked around in the cupboards and they were giving me Mother Hubbard until -- VOILA! -- my eye fell on that packet of Effie's Oatcakes. "Any port in a storm," I sighed, and fell to.Imagine my surprise! My joy! My delight! These things are GREAT! Crunchy ... but not too crunchy. Buttery ... but not too buttery. Buttery, crumbles nicely, perfect sweetness to accompany tea

I love these crackers but they are too pricy for me to get them on regular basis. But as a special treat, they are versatile. Eat them alone or with low fat plain yogurt and cucumbers or spinach dip, hummus.
