Q: How wide is the float ball?

A little over an inch without measuring it, I've gotten a number of other styles, and this one is by far the smallest bulb on the end I've gotten, and the float is hollow and can be unscrewed and manipulated.

Q: Can I make this work with outdoor 1/4" irrigation line?

I don't see why not. It takes 1/4" refrigerator tubing.

Q: What is max working pressure range? I live in high rise condo and just tested water pressure at 90 psi.

I don’t know know the max pressure it can withstand. I have hooked mine up on my drip watering system. At the hose connector end, you use a 25 psi limiting device. They are fairly inexpensive and would be easy to use with this.

Q: can this be used for an outoor fountain with hose connected directly to an open outside faucet?

Since this has fittings for 1/4 water line, you will definitely need to do some adapters. Also this is designed for a through hole top mount.
