Good value, easy seal, but the hex strips easily
These are a great value, I'm really surprised to find these. I looked for YEARS to find 1" plastic male to male hex nipple, and this is the only one I've seen. The problem with stainless steel connections is that they are difficult to seal metal on metal, VERY difficult and requires ultra tightening with a lot of teflon tape. I do not use "plumbers goop" because it is toxic and why would I purposely add toxic substances to a water system designed to purify the water? These plastic connectors seal quite easily on metal or plastic, but the BIG problem is that they strip the hex nut so easily when tightening. I stripped several on multiple sides as I tried tightening them. So the plastic is way too weak and should be much harder for the application. A certain amount of force is required to get a good seal, and these can barely handle it.However, these cost 1/2 to 1/3 the price of stainless steel connectors and seal easier, so I will keep using them until I find something better.

They leak! Use pipe thread compound...
Like several other reviewers, I bought these to connect corrugated FIP pipes to my sediment filter. (Sidenote: I think it's ridiculous you can't find basic 1" pvc nipples at the big box stores, and I recommend avoiding using brass/metal with your plastic water filter housing because of the potential for cracking the housing.) I liked how these fittings had the hex in the middle for easy wrench tightening, and they seemed good quality, but... THEY LEAK. Even with teflon tape, these leaked from the filter housing inlet side. What to do? Use some pipe thread sealant/compound (I used Oaty Great White, which works good and was cheap on Amazon). Buttered up the threads, retightened, and voila. No more leaks. Pipe thread compound is really good stuff, btw. I recommend it for all your connections instead of teflon tape. Only time you should use teflon tape is with FIP or old, worn threads.

Great fit
Used on a 1 inch pvc pipe irrigation valve. It fit, didn’t leak. What more can you ask? Using the hex shaped center to grip prevented damage to the threads. I will order these again if I run out.

Add plumber putty
I needed this between the inlet/outlet of the water softener and the flex lines. I could have used brass but there is much more tenancy to leak thus buying these. Unfortunately these did leak so I tightened them, and the leaked less. So I tightened more, and they leaked a little less. So I backed them out about 75%, smashed some plumber putty in the threads, and tightened it and it worked! Not 1 drop since. Great product to make an easy install.

Working great
Perfect fit. I was second-guessing myself with thoughts that I might have/should have gone with a metal one but this is working perfectly. The only thing I can't speak to is longevity. We've had it installed for only a couple of months so far.
