Erima Unisex's Hybrid Indoor Football

For years, my weekly 5-a-side indoor football group have been using Mitre balls and their ‘super league’ was the best ball by a long way as it had great shot rebound characteristics (i.e. sweet spot), was light, didn’t sting when taking a shot and would last absolutely ages (100+ sessions). For some unknown reason, Mitre decided to discontinue it so we tried their cyclone ball but that wasn’t as durable and could sting when shooting powerfully with it. Have also tried the Molten FG3350 and that was as good as the ‘super league’ when new but lost it’s shape after only a few sessions. Then we tried the Precision Training RIO ball which was also excellent but the felt started peeling off really badly after about 10 sessions….. this has led us to try the Erima Hybrid size 4 indoor ball and I have to say it’s amazing. The polyurethane material has an incredible all over sweet spot and the felt exterior is extremely durable. It zips off your foot with pace whether passing or shooting and has one massive advantage over the other balls I’ve mentioned and that is the high level of friction/grip you get from the exterior felt covering that allows you to put lots of bend/curl on sidefoot passes and shots. Technically gifted players will really appreciate this, as will attacking players because they can obtain a level of bend and power that just isn’t possible with any of the other balls we’ve used.If there’s a slight downside then it would be the fact that it’s a tad more bouncy than the others. Technically gifted players will be okay with this but those who are technically lacking won’t appreciate the extra bounce. However, the supreme grip this ball offers DOES negate the slightly extra bounce so it’s not really anything to worry about.Another benefit is that the air retention is fantastic so it doesn’t lose pressure between weekly sessions. Overall, this is an amazing ball and even though it’s only been used for around 5 sessions so far, it seems very durable and built to last. The other lads have commented on how much they like it, especially the attacking players so as long as it lasts us 50+ sessions, this will be our ‘go to’ ball in future. Yes it’s more expensive than every other indoor ball but you really do get what you pay for in this case.Like I said, have only used it for 5 sessions so far but if there’s anything else to report within 50 or so sessions, I will update this review accordingly……. and I recommend size 4 as size 5 is too big for indoor play in my experience.PS..... I paid £35 including delivery and am mentioning this as the price on Amazon for this ball seems to fluctuate.EDIT: Having used the ball now for over 10 sessions, I'd just like to give some advice....... technically good players will love this ball but those who's touch and technique is not as good will struggle with it due to the slightly greater rebound characteristics that make it a little bouncier than other indoor balls. Personally, I love this ball as my touch and technique is good so I love the extra zip I get when passing and shooting but if your group is comprised mainly of players with not so good touch/technique then just bear in mind that they are going to struggle........ though it does sort out the wheat from the chaff or however the saying goes 😊

We have been playing indoor 6-A-Side for a number for over 10 years and used the basic Mitre and Sondico, and changed on a regular basis due to balls going out of shape, worn, needing constant air each week. Spent the extra money and this ball is brilliant. Improved touch, accuracy, runs true etc. Wish we'd purchased years go!

Really impressed with this ball. It pretty much does manage to combine the good points of a stitched ball and a "plastic" type ball. Always feel a properly stitched ball is best, but they often lose their shape., while the plastic type keep their shape and are true, but sort of lack something. This is properly stitched, but I've had it about a year and it has not lost it's shape. It has worn well, and feels like a proper ball. The bounce is maybe slightly more sprightly than some I've had, and the price is maybe higher than many- but for me it has been well worth it. Would definitely buy again.
