Perfect for casual usage
The battery life is fair enough and actually pretty impressive given the slim size of the laptop. The keyboard is backlit and very comfortable. The size makes the laptop pleasant to use, although the screen resolution is 1366x768, which is a fair screen resolution given the size of the laptop and should suffice for most people, but those who are looking for a laptop with a bigger screen resolution should be aware and perhaps look for a larger laptop. The quality of the laptop is impressive given its price, it feels like brand new. It also has many ports. It also has a TouchStyk which makes navigation easier and much comfortable. The packaging was also neat. I express my gratitude to the seller! 👍

Supperrr Satisfied!!
The HP 840 G3 I received was as good as new! Fast, clean, and perfect for my needs. The seller did a great job refurbishing it, and I’m thrilled with how it performs. Highly recommended.

Great buy, with a few things to consider first
This was an excellent deal and the machine is in perfect condition physically and runs properly.A few things to consider if you are buying this choice of laptop:* One being that the screen image isn't as vibrant and crisp as I personally would have liked, however I use an external monitor what remedies that. If you want to use it strictly as a laptop with no external monitor, you might not like the quality of the display, depending on your needs and uses.* There is not a standard HDMI plug on this, so if you do want to connect to an external source, you will need a DP plug, and depending on what you're running it to, you might need one that had a conversion to HDMI on the other side. This is a fine option but the conversion does affect the transfer of data to the external device. The best way to go is DP to DP and many external devices might not have that connection on their end.* My machine was popping up some sort of notification that the last USB device plugged into the port was unrecognized. When you clicked the notification there was no further information or immediate option to ignore or dismiss the popup. It continued doing this in short periodic intervals for a few days, and didn't stop until I figured out how to disable this. Which was a bit annoying. However it might have just been my machine and it certainly wasn't a deal realer or anything that compromised the system or quality.* And lastly, the biggie that might be a deal breaker. This machine comes with Windows 10pro 64. It's a great OS and that in itself isn't a problem. However you might want to be aware of something that I personally was not, and it's that Microsoft will no longer be supporting this OS by the end of this year, and also, this machine cannot run the Windows 11 OS that Microsoft is trying to get everyone moved over to. There are frequent reminders from Microsoft asking you to run a compatibility checker to see if you can start the processs of converting over, and the verdict comes back as the machine not being compatible. The constant tap on the shoulder from Microsoft about this is sort of an annoying reminder that my OS won't be supported soon, and there's not much I can do about that. It won't render this computer useless, but you might want to look into the implications of what that means and decide if that's okay with you.Other than that, this was everything it is advertised as being and is overall a great buy!

Excellent laptop even for a refurb
Bought this laptop even though the reviews appear to be quite negative and was very surprised. Yes there are scratches on the cover but otherwise this thing is in great shape. No wear on the keyboard or screen (did have to do a quick clean up though no biggie). Functionally it is perfect - boots up quick with the ssd and seems to be quite zippy for being a few years old. It does have the higher res HD screen at 1920 x 1080 - anything less than that this day and age is just not acceptable. Was surprised to see it has a slot for a sim card not sure I would ever use it but neat anyway.

DoA laptop from "95 Computer"
- HP EliteBook 840 G3 sold by "95 Computer"- The questionable bare minimum packaging this laptop came in was an immediate concern. The laptop showed up in a small, never-designed-for-a-laptop box floating/banging around inside wrapped in a single layer of thin, popped bubble wrap.- No screen protector between the keyboard+screen. The laptop's screen has a clear print from the stick mouse on the keyboard, This is why laptops are normally shipped with a piece of material between the keyboard and screen.- Clearly a used laptop, hair in various areas on the laptop including stuck to a sticker affixed to the external power supply.- Laptop won't turn on. While not turning on out of the box on battery isn't a big surprise, the clearly dead and damaged power supply is. The power supply clearly does not work and is clearly damaged (bent) at the power connecting "Tip" that inserts into the laptop itself."Luckily" I'm familiar with this laptop model and I think i have an extra power supply to test with. However I will have to wait to see if that's the only issue, hopefully the laptop actually works but I have no way of being able to determine that, hence "DoA"I think it goes without saying that "95 Computer" doesn't actually test items they ship out and despite the bottom-tier packaging I have no reason to believe the PSU connecting Pin was damaged during shipping. The damaged PSU was certainly shipped out this way.I may update this review after testing with a functional power supply.UPDATE 12-04-2021: Amazon conveniently took "plenty" of time before posting this review. My initial conclusion was correct, the laptop was shipped with a clearly broken power supply. Sourcing another power supply I was able to get this laptop up and running and the battery did seem to hold a charge OK.However i was then lead into the next problem that others have mentioned: This was not an FHD/1080 display. Just like others that have posted screen shots, this laptop (but specifically the screen it comes with) is not capable of displaying 1080, and as some are aware, the lower quality/resolution 1366x768 screen this one (i think normally) comes with is really *not* super great to look at.I've never actually seen an 840 G3 with a 1080 display but apparently they exist. Anyways yes just like others this laptop was advertised and specified both FHD and 1080 neither of which it actually has.For a variety of reasons when it comes to "renewed" equipment, AMZ just seems worse off than seemingly any other semi-reputable PC refurb place you can find on another popular website that sounds like day. It's really the intentional lack of transparency and reputation of AMZ refurb sellers that makes renewed/refurb consistently more of a gamble on AMZ. Lesson learned here, *know* who you're actually buying from on AMZ, regardless of AMZ claiming to be the ones behind the scenes. There were actually (2) additional concerns I had with this laptop, one of them speculative. According to Device Manager this laptop had a "HEYING 265GB SSD" as its primary Disk. If you research HEYING you will basically find absolutely nothing at all, no one has ever heard of this device/manufacturer period.I forgot to check and confirm but this laptop was sold as having "DDR4" which seems unlikely vs DDR3.Lastly, it seems myself as a long time reputable customer and the hundreds of dollars spent on this laptop was truly not valued by AMZ at all, because when i shipped this back (and all of this has taken a *ton* of my time) - somehow it appears i've been tricked into accepting the refund back entirely as an AMZ gift card, instead of an actual refund back to the card/etc.So yeah the scamming really just keeps on churning. I have no idea why it seems by-default AMZ purposely avoided refunding to the source, but nothing would be more sure to me now than this by no means being a coincidence. I'm now out that cash through the holidays. "Thanks" AMZ - I may not ever (knowingly) buy anything used/refurbished/renewed etc from AMZ *ever* again.Let this be a lesson to anyone reading at no point in time should you buy anything on AMZ that isn't brand new, coming from a legitimately historically reputable company. They are out here taking literally *everyone* for a ride. This has burned me pretty good and i feel bad for those with less resources/capabilities than me that can't address this similarly head-on.Image gifting a completely dead laptop to someone for the holidays then you can't even get another one because the refund was purposely thrown onto a gift card.I think this will be the last update on this nightmare but I've got pictures and screen shots I could also add just in case - (as an FYI to AMZ and reseller.)
