On a Par with my Sony A57 DSLR
I bought this NX1000 as a replacement to my Sony A57 DSLR. I had been very impressed with the quality of the A57 but I was getting fed up with having to carry around a big DSLR camera. So as technology has moved on so quickly, there is now the availability to buy Compact System Cameras that claim the same high quality images and features of a DSLR but in the convenient size of a compact camera. So I bought this NX1000 for £229 which was an absolute bargain - I have had it for a week now and I have to say that I have found it to be superb!! Image quality is fantastic, I view my photos through a 47" panasonic HD TV, and I think the photos taken on this NX1000 are comparible with Sony A57, or at least I cannot see much difference. The size is nice and compact, but it is packed with features - even more than the A57 had. I have had remarkable results in low light conditions, which are better than the A57 in my opinion.I have seen several reviews claiming that it is slow and sluggish with long processing times. Well I am using a Sony Class 10 SDHC memory card and with this card the camera is no slower than the A57 in autofocusing or processing and I am taking photos on super fine quality 20mp so I cannot see what the bad reviewers are talking about (maybe they were using a slow memory card). Apparently if you use the amazingly fast 8fps function then this locks the camera out for a few seconds whilst processing - I have not used this feature yet, but lets face it, if you are getting 8fps (which is faster than some mid range DSLR's) it is a small price to pay for such a high fps.Full HD movie quality is superb too! again matching the A57 here. However it does suffer from the same problem that the A57 did which is autofocus sound contamination. The A57 clicked and whirred when it was continuously autofocusing which was picked up on the movie audio. The NX1000 makes a slight whir as it autofocuses, which is picked up on the audio recording as well. Now you may consider this to be a major issue, but I did a test video of my garden where there was no ambient sound, so I suspect that when filming people or vehicles etc, the sound of the busy surroundings will probably hide this whir. To be honest if you want perfect video buy a camcorder. So to close this review all I can say is - If you want a great point and shoot camera that is small and compact but still want the quality and features of a big DSLR then this is the camera for you.

Great for amateurs! You could not demand for a Rolls Royce but only willing to pay for the price of a second hand Ford. Get it?
Got this for my Applied Photography module in uni. Great for amateur photography enthusiasts. Price VS. specs is quite balanced and photos produced are amazing. There is some lag especially for burst shots due to the processing power. If this is a major concern I suggest searching for cameras at least 3 times more the price range compared to the NX1000. The higher the processing speed the higher the price. You could not demand for a Rolls Royce but only willing to pay for the price of a second hand Ford. Get it?

OVERPRICED
Overpriced with important bits missing like the battery charger, found much better deal on ebay with everything including manuals and original box and it was actually cheaper

Samsung NX1000 Review
I bought this after reading lots of reviews at least 70, I needed another camera while my other pocket camera was being fixed, I tried caring my SLR around with me again and just realised how heavy it was ,and why I bought a pocket camera in the first place, so I decided to buy this one a bit sooner then I had planed, and thought I could use both cameras together and get the best of both speck ,my pocket Fuji for its long zoom and photo snapping capability whilst capturing video, and Samsung for low light and other useful items.I will say that if you want a quality pocket SLR and want quality pictures at a decent price then this camera is the one to buy, I have looked at all of them ,all in this range and are all far more expensive than this, and they dont have much more to offer than this one.I am going to keep this review relatively short as I have not had the time to fully assess this camera, so ill try to be fairly brief and may add more info in the future. The quality of the images I am getting are as good and possibly better than my SLR and with over 20 Mp to play with you have great cropping capability, its got all the functions that you could want and it shoots in raw as well, however in its full auto mode it dos-not appear to allow you to shoot in raw, and you have to shoot in Jpeg, this dose not matter to me as I only use AV and TV shooting I just thought I would mention it.The auto focus is petty good and have not had any problems with it, and battery life I got 650 Pictures in a day with it, the video is OK but I use my Fuji 20x optical zoom for video, the lens that came with it dose not support optical image stabilisation but I believe other lenses have this, its not a problem for me we didn't have OIS in the past just use a faster shutter speed.I cant think of anything else to say about the Samsung at the moment ,as I need more time with it, but it is a great little camera for the money and the delivery was quick.

Very good, but not for moving objects
The camera is very good, the menu is fairly intuitive, the quality of the pictures is great and the camera is very light and quite compact (great for travelling). The only thing is that it cannot focus on moving objects, even if these objects are not moving very fast. So if you want to picture objects/individuals that simply cannot stay still (like small children or animals), then you may reconsider buying this camera. There are certainly better options on the market.
