Excellent value for money and I can sleep at night!
I bought one of these in 2019 for downstairs and it’s great and still works perfectly. I needed a second fan for my bedroom, I looked at all the expensive models but then came back to this one. Again, it’s perfect. It has 5 levels, a remote control which I’ve used from my bed and it doesn’t keep me awake at night, it has a gentle hum and I’ve slept well considering the heat.

Nice and quiet, but still powerful enough.
Even on the highest setting it isn't too loud, but on the lower settings it is quiet enough that you can use it in the bedroom without it being loud enough to keep you awake.Once assembled it seems solid enough, and thanks to the carrying handle it is easy enough to move between rooms without feeling you are going to damage it.Comes with a basic, but functional, remote control that makes it convenient to use regardless of where you have positioned it in the room.Several reviews have mentioned a rattling noise when in use, the only time I have noticed this is when the remote control is the holder on the back of the fan. So it might be worth not leaving the remote on the fan when the fan is in use.

Worth the money
Ok this is an out of the box review, I've just put it together and switched it on, and I am very impressed. We already have one fan in a similar format that cost about £30. It's alright, but it's a bit wobbly, and a bit rattly, and if the weather is going to be like this we're going to need more than one fan.At £55 this is almost twice the price, but you know what, it's worth it. It's easy to put together, and it will stay solid because it's held together with thumbscrews. It's a little bigger than my £30 fan, and it is SUPER quiet. Even cranked up to 5 (my old one only had 3 settings) the noise is not obtrusive. At full whack you really do get a breeze, you won't often need that but it's nice to have in hand. Most of the time the lower levels will be just fine. There's no rocking at all. Even if you poke it, yes there's a little movement because it's tall, but it's solid on its footing. It's a really good base. And it's got a remote! One thing I've noticed with the old fan is that if you want to change the settings whilst it's oscillating, you have to wrestle with it, and there's always a little worry that you're stopping the rotation motor a little bit. None of that here. Do what you want with it from metres away. There's even a slot for the remote on the back, so if you lose it, it really is your own fault. This is a really well designed product and I really like it. At a premium price, it needs to last a bit longer than a cheaper fan. Time will tell, but the signs are good, it certainly looks like excellent value to me at the moment.

Not as quiet as the name suggests!
Overall it does what its meant to, its a fan, it moves air! The chrome top looks really cheap, would have been better looking if it was the same matt black as the rest of the unit. Now the functional negative...... IT'S NOISY! The actual moving of air is pretty quiet, BUT the motor is clearly not balanced and makes some knocking sounds, it's not even at a constant frequency so you can't get used to it and block it out. The knocking ramps up and down randomly and is unbelievably annoying.I'll try and sleep with it in the room for one night and see how it goes, but unless the fixit fairies come tonight, it will be sent back.

Useful, space-saving fan.
Bought mine a week before the micro-heatwave - it was appreciated. After some research and comparison of tower fans on offer, this unit came out on top for price vs. performance.I was careful to buy this older revision design, not the newer version which has an issue with an annoying harmonic ("low rumble sound"). This fan basically produces brown noise across the spectrum with no annoying peaky frequencies at any of the fan speeds, just increased amplitude (confirmed with a couple of spectral analysers). The motor is hardly whisper quiet, but I'd have no problem sleeping with it running. The timer facility is great - it will either turn on in (x) hours from now, or turn off in (x) hours from now if already running. The motorised rotation works fine, smooth and with no extra noise, and the IR remote control is very useful. It's easy to carry and isn't heavy at all. The base is a slightly flexible plastic construction which snap-fits to the final shape, not the sturdiest in the world (given how top heavy it is) but it won't tip over without provocation.it took about 10 minutes from opening the box to building and attaching the base and turning it on.

Unstable but powerful
If you have dogs or children this isn't for you. It's quite unstable, but we don't have children or pets anymore so it's perfectly fine for us. Quiet, it is not. On the sleep setting it would in my opinion be far too noisy. However it does throw out a very good breeze. If it's on , in a lounge with the t.v on the noise would be OK. It will be OK to dismantle to put back in the box for winter storage.

Good Fan let down by the stand.
Bought this fan a little over a year ago, and its generally a good fan. it's not to loud and gives a good breeze, but the base is quite flimsy and breaks easily. I've enjoyed using it, but it's just fallen apart. if it's possible to get a replacement for the stand then it would be 5 stars.
