Not tottaly natural & safe, softens well!
INGREDIENTS: Below 5%: Cationic surfactant, sodium benzoate, citric acidSodium Benzoate = "While benzoic acid is found naturally in low levels in many fruits, the sodium benzoate listed on a product's label is synthesized in a lab. It has the ability to deprive the cells of oxygen, break down the immune system and cause cancer. Cancer is all about the cumulative effect. When the human body is exposed repeatedly to any level of this carcinogen, which rears its ugly head in thousands of products, the immune system, over time, is depleted to the point that one acquires an immune deficiency. Then the body does not have enough essential nutrients to detoxify, and this occurs at the cellular level. Parkinson's, neuro-degenerative diseases, and premature aging have all been attributed to this infamous PRESERVATIVE". Cationic surfactant is not safe either. Now, as the safest bio products cost lots of money and most people can't afford to buy, best solution is BIO-D or a similar product. What you have to do is use little product, high temperature 50-60+ degrees, choose the extra buttons in laundry for water & rinsing. Bio-D softens clothes well enough for you to feel safe!I wanted to buy the EWG's GUIDE top fabric softener but as it costs 40euro/lit it's not affordable for me. So, i will buy this product again as compared to other "bio" softeners does a good work! Oh...and Bio-D Fabric Conditioner lasts up to 10-12 washes not 20, as mentioned.

Contains dimethyl ammonium chloride like lenor
Having been very impressed with the near scentless bathroom cleaner and washing powder from bio d, both of which surprised me by cleaning just as well as the chemical filled products of their competitors i thought to try this softener as it was described as unperfumed and i made the assumption that this meant scentless.. For years i had assumed that the foul smell of lenor was due to perfumes and never thought to sniff test before using this. This product only has 4 listed ingredients on the packet so i figured it would be fine. It turns out that the fouls smell of lenor is actually mainly from an ingredient which bio d list on this product as "cationic surfactant" which i found online to actually be dimethyl ammonium chloride. Ammonia being the stuff they use in smelling salts to wake up unconscious people because it smells so foul and chlorine being the unpleasant smell of swimming pools. Couple this with the fact that "cationic" means they have found a way to negatively charge the particles so that they stick like glue to whatever fibres they come into contact with and are near impossible to get out of clothing once exposed. Not only that but this stuff is so sticky that as with lenor anyone wearing it will leave a sticky stench on whatever they sit on which will then transfer to the clothing of the unfortunate next person to sit in the same seat. Our local GP surgery hasnt a single seat not contaminated with this foulness but fortunately that kind of contact transfer of ming goes nowhere near as deep and can be removed by leaving clothes out in the sun and wind. Distilled vinegar can kill ammonia but you are still left with an unpleasant methyl chlorine smell, and apparently the only thing that kills chlorine is UV light which makes it very difficult to remove in winter. Surfactants are the same as emulsion so using this is like spreading ronseal all over your clothing, although ronseal would probably smell better. This nightmare has resulted in the replacement of a £400 tumble dryer and the binning of about £100 worth of clothes as the foul smell cannot be fully removed from clothing or dryers. Fortunately the washing machine was ok after a couple of 90 degree washes with distilled vinegar and baking soda. How anyone can like the smell of ammonium chloride is beyond me and it can be an irritant to the respiratory system and the skin. If you have any sense of smell avoid this product at all costs. Ecover is the only company that seems to make a cationic surfactant that isnt so sticky and doesnt contain ammonium chloride, or you could just use distilled vinegar and not have clothes coated with chemical emulsion.
