So, this little thing was supposed to be part of my EDC. It was cute, small, and expanded just enough to barely pass as a pen...Now it is a fidget toy. It's built like a tank, and the mechanism is so much fun that it takes over my ADHD, and annoys my family, at the same time. I would caution that this design is inherently prone to losing pieces: there is no retaining piece to hold the cartridge or bolt. Rotate left, you have a pen. Rotate right, and you have a pile of parts. That said, with a bit of tape or a bit of modification, it is well worth the price of $6 I paid.

I've got a few bolt action pens, all of them are fairly similar in design in that you unscrew the front of the pen's body to disassemble it and replace ink fills or perform cleaning, etc. I've never seen a design like this and it's both clever and the source of the biggest challenge facing this pen. I am sure it would make it more challenging to make, and more expensive, to have a threaded body tube design, but I don't think it would make the pen any bigger.That aside, this is a nicely machined little pen, and it is indeed little. It's also dense compared to my other pens, which isn't a surprise considering the other bolt action pens I have are titanium. Despite that, it doesn't feel heavy or anything, the small size is helping it there. There's one perk to this, it should develop a nice patina with time!The included refill writes fine, it's nothing to get excited about, but it gets the job done. Overall, it's a fun toy and a perfectly functional pen. The drawback from the mechanism is that while it's easy to disassemble, it's also easy to disassemble unintentionally. You cannot hand this pen to someone else without warning them how to use it (unless they're mechanically inclined and understand how it works from looking at it). If someone unwittingly slides the bolt to the disassembly position the pen will rapidly spew it's guts all over the place.Heed that caution about unplanned disassembly, and overall I would say it's a nice pen at a really reasonable price, and it's got a unique look that appeals to me.As for refills, since it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere, the Lamy M22 seems to fit fine. Overall dimensions (length, width) are a match) but he tapering on the refill is slightly different. Wasn't sure it would work but I've tested with an M22 and it fits and functions perfectly fine..

This is my second bolt type pen and I'd have to say this is the better one. It's solid brass and quite hefty for its size. The machining is very well done as the bolt action operates very smoothly without any looseness in the bolt and ink cartridge so writing with it is pretty reliable. There are some sharp edges but nothing that will cut and there are no burrs or rough patches anywhere. The cartridge retracts fully and securely so I'm not worried about accidental scribbling while in my pocket. Replacing the ink is also very easy. The pen is also visually appealing and the brass has a satin finish, which adds grip and avoids glare. And even though it's heavy for its size, it's not excessively so when in the pocket. You'll notice it's there, but it's not a heavy enough item to be annoying. I can understand how someone else said this can be used as a fidget toy; it's just so pleasing to play with the bolt action.My only suggeestion would be an optional clip so I can wear this on my EDC holster, so it won't slip through the open bottomed sleeve. Otherwise, a very reasonably priced and well made bolt pen.

Way smaller than I realized, fits in the palm of my hand, and can fall out the top if you aren't paying attention. Writes well, and is very cute. I keep in the pocket of my coat so I always have a pen handy. I like it, but it can be very difficult to hold, particularly for people with larger hands. I needed somebody to sign something and they had large hands, struggled for a bit to get a hold of. Beware it is smaller than it looks, but easy to carry, manage in general. I like and will be getting one for child to put in bag at school.
