An essential read
It's my 1st book on the philosophy of self help and found it interesting. As per the author who is an existential psychologist explains self loss from the same prespective and provides some tools to cope with it. I like all the what's she takels on authenticity, freedom , choice, responsibility, attention, appreciation and justice etc. How does one know self , you know it and it's through reflection and for that you need to five time and space and finally action. The book touches upon the concept and meaning of life and where it comes from , generally it's from our creation of work/deed, our experiences and the attitude we show. Most common causes of self loss occur due to life changing events , modeled behavior and due to family/social rules and self betrayal. One full chapter is on boundaries setting and its advantages from the prespective of self. The importance of internal validation over external. It also covers how the journey of change is met with resistance, isolation and grief. To build a new self is to declutter all the current unnecessary baggage in terms of thought, beliefs, assumptions, roles , habits , relationships and possessions that don't serve you. It also covers a chapter on self and its relationships with body and how to connect with the body better. Last is always my favorite on emotions covers why we feel what we feel , how to differentiate subjective and objective reality, how emotions are processed and how they connect to our values.

Fantastic & Applicable Read!
Sara covered absolutely everything in this book. What a raw, open, genuine, direct, compassionate, full spectrum offering. She calls you out in the best way, offers very deep reflections through journal prompts/meditative questions, and invites you into sustainable self-appreciation, intimate connection, and embodiment. I loved this book. What an awesome tool for my toolbox. I’ve already shared some of these prompts with my clients! Thank you Sara! 5 stars!
