Daewoo KOR6LBD Duo Plate Microwave 800 watts
Takes up less space than our original microwave but is about the same size internally and is a lot lighter to move. Front panel is clear and has a useful 24 hr clock as well as timer settings. Defrost button can either be pressed once then weight of food to defrost can be entered via the hours minutes and seconds buttons (but this is grams so don't get confused) or you can press it twice and simply enter time to defrost in the same way. I found the defrost needed longer when entering weight but I supposed this will depend on the thickness of the food. I tried it with chicken breasts and it definitely required extra time to be fully defrosted. Has some useful pre-program functions already built in such as beverages and cooking various foods such as pasta, frozen pizza and has a power button with percentages so you can cook more slowly. Haven't used it a great deal yet but appears to work fine and the second plate shelf is a useful addition to heat two meals at once. Haven't tried this function yet but would assume you may have to stop half way through and swap plates around to get the same even cooking distance from the magnetron. The instruction book is clear and quite easy to read. We bought the white version of this microwave which is about £10 cheaper than the black version for some reason. Appears to work fine for the price paid.

Cheap and, almost, cheerful.
For the money it's not bad. But...it's very light and shifts round when you open and close the door, which is just a handle...no button to press to open the door like I've been used to. It's also very bright, with what I would call chunky numbers in the display, easily seen but a bit garish. Beware...there is no kitchen timer on this, even though it says clock timer in the write up: I assume they mean the digital countdown when it is actually cooking. So I've had to buy a kitchen timer for the first time in years...and years. How hard or expensive would it gave been to include a timer? The inside is bigger than you might think, taking our large 27cm Denby plates. It cooks well, which is after all it's basic function, heating better than the 900watt kenwood oven it replaces. It comes with a metal tray to allow 2 dishes to be cooked at once, the tray clips in halfway up but doesn't, obviously, rotate, so the instructions say extend your cooking time when using it and swap the dishes between turntable and tray halfway through. Don't be fooled, by the way, into thinking that because they provide a metal rack for the shelf you can suddenly put all metals in your microwave; you can't, it's only certain sizes and shapes of metal that don't interfere or react to the microwave frequency...or something like that. After all that I would say that all in all, for the price, it isnt bad.

A great microwave initially....................
With two sons that work late and miss our evening meal, this microwave with a shelf seemed like a good idea. It was! It's easy to use, easy to clean and it looks good. Oh, and it does its job too!I would recommend this product.EDIT: Within an hour of writing this feedback, the microwave door broke! It won't close. I've obviously jinxed it, haven't I?

Very easy to use and does everything you want your microwave ...
Only had it 5 days so far but I already get the many four and five star reviews for this product. Very easy to use and does everything you want your microwave to do. The shelf is a great idea but maybe not for a microwave this small. It's absolutely perfect for one or two people but those large-looking dishes in the photo? Bit deceptive, if you ask me - they must be fairly small dishes.

Effective, basic microwave with a shelf! + update
Bought to replace our Panasonic microwave which expired (the 2nd one in fouryears). Did not want another all-singing all-dancing model, and selected thismodel based firstly on size, and secondly on price. We've had it for two months now; it's used every day and (fingers crossed), it'sproven itself to be a decent little microwave. As others have mentioned, theinstructions aren't great, but passable. There are a few basic programmes including:WEIGHT DEFROSTING: tell the microwave the weight and it does the rest (200g to 3Kg).TIME DEFROSTING: divides the defrosting time into periods of alternating defrost and stand times.COOKING IN ONE STAGE: set the power and the time and off it goes.COOKING IN TWO STAGE: defrosts the food and then cooks it (over-simplified by me!).+30 SEC: extend reheating time in 30 second intervals up to 5 minutes.ONE TOUCH COOKING: allows you to cook or reheat several foods by touching just one padThese features all work, although it's mostly used in the basic 'time defrost mode'in our kitchen. Not needed to use the shelf much, but I can see uses for it. Theshelf should be removed when not in use.It all feels a little more 'plasticy' than the Panasonics it replaced, for example, thedoor is pulled open manually, rather than with a button release, and one thing Imiss is a timer for other cooking activities. There are no vents on the top, so objects can be stored there, and it also has achild safety lock.Clearly time will tell regarding it's reliability (hence fingers crossed), but so farso good and I think it represents reasonable value for money.Update. 14th June 2013 ... not quite four months old and the 'minute' buttonstopped working. The microwave has been replaced by Amazon (rapid service;thank you). One star removed.

Works well
Pleased with this it is quite small , but I wanted it to fit into a cupboard which it does. Only gripe is you can only use fairly standard plates , I had to buy smaller plates to fit the turntable , so keep that in mind when looking for a microwave .The functions are good does all sorts of things and cooks well .
