Inexpensive way to repair unsightly hole in cloth seat.
I used this to repair a cigarette burn in a cloth vehicle seat. It worked well for this application and I am very pleased with the results. It took me about 20 minutes, including reading the instructions. The patch is visible and can be seen if you look for it, mostly because of the difference in texture. However, most people didn't notice it with just a casual glance and it looks significantly better than a burn hole. I believe results will vary based on the amount of effort and attention to detail you put into applying the patch. The kits contains several small containers with colored, powder-like fibers, a small piece of backing cloth, fabric glue, a plastic application stick, a sifting screen, and an empty mixing cup. The small containers are a little difficult to open because of their small size. The application stick is really flimsy and I would recommend using something like a popsicle stick for larger repairs. Otherwise I have no complaints. It is fairly easy to use the kit. Instructions are adequate. The only challenging part is mixing the fibers together to match the color of the fabric. There is a guide to get you close to the correct color, then you will need to use trial and error to tweak the color for an exact match. I was able to match the color almost perfectly after just a few tries.

Great product, great price, repairs fabric quite well
Used the Permatex Fabric Repair Kit to repair a chemical burn that was caused by a solvent coming in contact with car seat fabric. It left a divot in the seat and plasticized the fibers around the divot. Seats were light/medium gray so it was just a matter of mixing the black and white fabric fibers until I had a close match. The fabric glue is easy to apply, goes on white but dries clear. You use the included "spatula" to spread the glue, then you sprinkle the fabric fibers over the screen until you have the glue area covered fairly well. Don't be afraid to use a generous amount of fabric fibers, whatever doesn't stick to the glue scrapes right off fairly evenly using your finger or the spatula.Just a tip for the color matching - it's very tricky to get an exact match. It's better to apply a shade slightly lighter than the color of the fabric, if you go too dark it's more noticeable and looks like a stain. You can apply more than one coat if the color shade is too far off. Simply add more darkening fibers to the mix and try another coat using the glue. This stuff works very well for minor fabric repairs and hides the damage quite well. It doesn't quite measure up to a professional job, but it's about 10x less expensive to repair fabric using this kit vs. hiring a professional, and the end result should look semi-professional if you take your time and put some effort into the color match. It's not even necessary to use the included mesh screen if you sprinkle the fibers and rub them in gently using slight finger pressure. This fabric repair kit could also be used to repair minor damage to clothing or low-nap carpeting. Overall, great product, great price, would recommend to anyone looking to repair minor holes, abrasions, or burns in car seat upholstery.

Works as advertised, but...
I followed directions and still missed the color matching my cigarette burned fabric car seat. The 2 burn holes were very small, but still noticeable, so I bought this stuff to try and fix the problem. I mixed the fabric colors in the car in sunlight so I could get a good color match. The repair material in the mixing container looked like it match perfectly to my car seat, so I went for it. There is no "Do-over" with this stuff. The mesh screen was a joke. I ended up just putting the repair fabric directly from the mixing container onto the seat cover and pressing it down with the little tool that comes with the repair kit. Works just as well as that stupid screen thing the directions say to use. I let it all dry for 24 hours and went to check it out. I would have been SO proud of myself if this had worked out like I thought it would. Well, I missed the matching color shade by about 1 degree of color. My car seats are grey. I thought it would be simple to mix the color of the repair fabric to match grey! Anyway, the holes are still noticeable but at least they don't look like burn holes any more. I blame myself for missing the perfect color match. HOWEVER - even if I had matched the colors perfectly, you would STILL be able to see where the holes were repaired. I think this is a neat product, but you have to be VERY careful on color matching. I would probably buy this again if I had to fix another burn hole.

Saved my Sanity!!! Wonderful!!!!
Got this today and used it on an ugly, horrifying burn hole in my car seat. Yes, I was smoking and the big ash just fell out of the cigarette! I wanted to die!!! Found this and it had good reviews, so I figured I would try it. Wow!!!! The instructions are very clear, the process extremely easy and I had that ugly hole fixed in five minutes!!! I liked that they gave you EVERYTHING you needed, even some fabric to fill in the hole. Yes, you can tell if you look closely that there was "something" there.....but if you weren't looking for anything, it wouldn't be noticed. Phew! Now, I have to quit smoking. And.....I did find a YouTube video that showed a hole being fixed, and that was just an extra helpful bonus. Just match up the right color and you're done!! Highly recommend.

Not Durable and easily noticed
This product works OK. I used it on a buddy's 2003 Toyota 4Runner with grey cloth seats (i got a cigarette burn on the seat). The seats were checkerboard/crosshatched. He noticed the cigarette burn repair within 10 seconds of getting in the car. The fabric material also came right off within 1-2 hours. Compared to how it looked, it was a good improvement, but not good enough. Doesn't look that good and is NOT durable. For as cheap as it is, it's not bad. The repair isn't super durable, but there is enough to redo the repair several times. If you want a quick, acceptable fix, this is a good product. If you want a permanent, OEM matching repair that looks great, then unfortunately this will not be acceptable(you should get in touch with an upholstery shop or find a spare seat in a junkyard)
