These allow you to easily check your house for lead. It's easy to swab anything and quickly check. This became vital because 2 of my son's were diagnosed with higher lead levels. This allowed me to check everything before moving into my new house to make sure it was safe for them. Thankfully it was but my friend used them and found a few lead spots in her house and was easily able go fix it.

Easy to use, good price point, but hard to read the results and not sure I trust the accuracy.

We tested tons of stuff around our house and it’s kind of hard to tell if the swabs change just a little. The color difference between the original orange and slightly pink is hard to pick up.

I am a vintage glassware collector. I bought these testers to replace the ones I just ran out of and immediately tried them out on my most concentrated lead example. There was no reaction at all out of three tests, except in the one I left on top of the plate overnight, which tinted red slightly. They should have turned a deep magenta, immediately. These are not reliable testers and should not be trusted. If you need to be certain, particularly for vintage glassware, then use your money on a UV flashlight instead. Lead glows icy blue, and other impurities other colors of the rainbow. Don’t risk your health with these.

National news reported possible lead in various “vintage” dishes & glass baking dishes. Testing product directions were specific, & testing swabs easy to use. Got positive (for lead) & negative results on the various items tested.Appreciate being able to eliminate items that may expose people to lead ingestion. Appreciate knowing what dishes were safe.As I tested each item, I swabbed inside with the end of the tip, & outside with one side of the tip. I laid them with that dish as it developed. Went on to test the next item.I had both positive & negative results on my items tested. If my results were unclear, I re-tested.Recommended .

make sure you only use one side of the q-tip when testing. this gives a good difference to witness between the two sides. The included color chart is ok but we found ourselves pretty confused and retesting a few pieces to confirm results. Absolute must for anyone with old coffee cups around.

Seems to be a great value.

Needed to redo an old radiator. First paint layer tested negative… not sure whether to trust it… but the older layer below tested positive . Thus I assume the negative result counts. Be careful to clean the test surface and not to rub and compress the testing tip too much.
