Gimbals Licorice Scottie Dogs Black 2 Pounds

I went gluten free a few years ago, and one of the things I have REALLY missed is licorice. I tried another brand, but it wasn't great, I thought my days of enjoying this yummy treat were over. I happened to find this licorice, and based on the great reviews decided to give it a try. Because of the cost I chose to take a gamble and buy the 2 pound bag, hoping I wasn't going to regret my decision - and be stuck with a big bag of marginal candy. Well this stuff is delightful and I am thrilled to have a delicious licorice option, and love that this is available at a reasonable price through Subscribe & Save. This licorice is soft, and tends to stick to your teeth a bit (not sure how my dentist will feel about that), and tastes like black licorice should. A serving size is 6 pieces, so my challenge is going to be not eating 6 or 7 servings at a time. I don't know how this will do now that the bag is open, but I will update my review if it is a problem. Obviously this is still candy, full of sugar and other things that do not contribute to health, but one thing it is NOT full of is gluten, unlike almost every other licorice out there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this licorice to anyone who misses it but is trying to stay away from gluten. It's really wonderful to have an option for a classic childhood favorite, can't wait to sneak a little baggie in the next time I go to the movies!

Seller stated they had re-packaged the product after receiving it from the manufacturer.Many of the pieces of candy appeared to be overruns, partial pieces or "flops" from manufacturing. The quality was fine but not what I expected. I have other packages directly from the manufacturer and have never had a partial or cut piece of candy. Perhaps they should have been sold as "seconds" or "bless".

I love Gimbal's Scottie Dogs. They are by far my favorite way to eat black licorice. These Scottie Dogs are flavorful, but have a nice balance of sweetness to keep them from having the bitter taste you sometimes get with licorice. The Scottie dogs are a good size. I usually eat a couple at a time for a sweet snack after meals. They are chewy, but not as chewy as taffy. They do not stick to my teeth like some candies. These licorice candies will get a little bit harder over time. When I open the bag I put them in a ziploc bag. The bag they come in is not re-sealable. If it takes more than a week or two to eat these they do lose some of their softness, but I honestly like them better after they have lost some of the softness. These are one of my favorite candies of all time.I bought these full price for my own eating pleasure.

Best licorice ever. My husband and I LOVE licorice. Real licorice, not Twizzlers (though I do like them, that's not actual licorice). We have bought lots of real and naturally flavored licorice, some from England, some Australia and some American. I forgot where these are made, I don't care, as long as I can get them on Amazon. These are a reasonable price to pay and the texture and flavor are perfect. Don't chew them if you have caps or a loose filling though. We pulled ours out. Dentist said my filling was old and loose and needed refilling anyway so maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Anyway, flavor is good, not too strong and not too sweet. Texture is chewy but firm, not as firm as a stale gummy bear but more firm than most other licorice. And who doesn't love the Scotty dog shapes?

My husband, for Christmas from our kids, always receives these Scotties from the original candy company. On a whim, I took a chance on buying this plain, boring, 2lb bag of the doggies. It was one of the best moves I ever made. The candy was tightly sealed in its bag and ever so moist and chewy! From now on, I will ALWAYS buy the Scotties from this vendor!

I enjoyed these a lot. They are small but have a nice, tasty licorice flavor. The quantity was very generous. There were so many I decided to put some in the freezer so they'd stay fresh. They did. I will order again.

These gluten free treats are delicious. One of the things I missed the most after I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease was licorice. These Gluten Free Scottie Licorice Treats are so yummy and the price is awesome too! I love that they were packaged in individual bags.

I am sure that if you like your licorice really sweet, this would be good licorice. Me? well, it was way too sweet for me. But I had great fun finding someone to give it to. I just walked down Main street and after talking to a few black licorice haters I found someone who loves them. I handed her the whole 2 lbs and came home and celebrated with a few pieces of salty licorice.
