Super-tough, super-performance, super-bargain
I bought this as a replacement for one that I thought I'd broken. If it was a car then it would've been around the clock a few times and owed me nothing anyway. Turns out I'd just knocked the gear selector on the top into no-mans-land and impulse bought a replacement because it was so cheap for what it is.This is the best work horse on the market. Bar none. You can spend more money if you want but trust me, I've used plenty of these from different brands asks others from Makita and this one is the best for value and performance. The hammer function is a bit of a tall claim, but it kinda works if you really need it. I guess if the hammer function is important to you then this might not be the one for you. For everything else it is. Even with a 1.5Ah battery it goes on and on. The chuck is fantastic. The weight and balance is really good. It's ultra reliable and I can testify that it's robust enough to survive a 10 foot drop onto a concrete floor with nothing other than a bit of gravel-rash and a battery that needed to be re-attached!Amazing bit of kit for the money. Obviously it doesn't come with batteries at this price. Thankfully the one that I thought I'd broken had two batteries so I could use them both (relatively) simultaneously - one with a drill bit and one with a driver to stop jabbing to swap bits. I actually recommend that to anyone who has bought a kit with two batteries actually. These days I've got a few batteries for all the different Makita LXT stuff that I've built up.I simply wouldn't consider buying anything else.

A great drill all round.
Purchased this to replace my old one of the same make n model as I unintentionally broke the trigger. ( I Misused the drill snapping a crucial bit of plastic inside)Ive used this drill in many situations, all the features and this is my second purchase. So I highly rate it. My use case is a wide range of heavy duty home DIY.I find them very well made, durable and powerful. The large bit holder hasnt let me down. The motor never let me down. This brand has a great reputation in powertools. They are rugged and mine withstood my working habbits in rain , dirt, dust , you name it.It is however a little weighty but the ergonomics make it comfortable to use for me.I wish it came with a belt attachment. The trigger and settings all has good feedback and the symbles never seem to fade off the housing. For this type of drill the size is standard, (although there maybe smaller profiles for brushless drivers, which this isnt)Its very easy to access for cleaning and repairing inside with just a screwdriver needed.Im going to use this all the time on every project and use my old one for spares should the day come.Highly recommend this drill especially for the price (less a battery) I paid.

Unbelievable Value
I have owned one of these already I think for at least 12 years. It's built at least ten sheds, built untold yards of fencing, laid dozens of square yards of decking, hung a thousand pictures stirred paint and plaster and done a million other jobs. It's been dropped, kicked, bashed, used as a hammer and treated abysmally at times it was so indestructible. I finally killed it this week when the motor burned out drilling Ancaster stone. I immediately looked for a replacement and would certainly have paid £100 plus to replace it. Imagine my surprise and delight in finding this at £40, I couldn't believe it. It's exactly the same drill after all these years, I thought they might have stopped making it. Finally after buying it I found a genuine Makita replacement motor for £15 brand new so I've sent for that and will repair and clean my old one too, don't know why but I feel it deserves a healthy retirement sitting in my shed. Makita tools are in my view peerless products, I have a good few now, none have let me down ever. They are for me the best on the market and at this price an absolute steal.

Replacement for worn out Makita.
Replacing long serving, but failing, Makita. Looked around for repairs but cost was likely to be more than this replacement new Makita drill.Tried it out on a number of jobs and it performs perfectly. Batteries used on old drill fit on the new drill perfectly.
