... is thinking about purchasing this calculator it is an EXCELLENT and POWERFUL instrument that would aid you in studies
*****DISCLAIMER TO FUTURE/CURRENT BUYERS*****Everyone who is thinking about purchasing this calculator it is an EXCELLENT and POWERFUL instrument that would aid you in studies, programming or other general uses however please note that this calculation DOES NOT HAVE NATURAL DISPLAY SETTINGS, Natural display settings are settings that allow you to keep equations in their basic forms e.g. 1/3 would be converted to 0.333333333 or surds would come up as decimal. If you want a calculator with these setting then you must purchase the FX-9860GII:Casio FX9860GII - CASIO FX9860GII GRAPHIC CALCULATORThis is not stated within the item description so I wish for this to be resolved. Regardless of this minor issue I decided to give this 5* because it truly is a fantastic calculator and if you don't mind that this calculator isn't natural display then this calculator is cheap and convenient.

Good graphics calculator, waiting for price-fall
Bought this for my son who gave his (same model) a shower from his water bottle at the gym; drying out did not revive it. An all this just a month before his exams, when it wouldn't have mattered in the same way. So had litttle option but to buy the same as he was used to. I don't use this but have used calcs since the Sinclair Cambridge and HP29 (brill!); I'm told it works fine, and it appears up to usual Casio standard. My personal view is I'm over a barrel because it's a school spec graphics calc, and price seems to be held high, for what it actually offers. The school has to loan out these units to people who can't buy it, and I'm not surprised, at two ponies or bullseye! Blimey! I know it's more useful than a phone(!), but.... I ha[ppen to have an advert for the Sinclair, something like £17 in kit form in 1974. And the HP was astronomical (a months pay), when I was free, - and daft. In Staples now, I spotted a simple four-function calculator for £2.20 that hooks into a ring binder. In real terms then, I suppose we've been spoiled by the technology being jacked up, and the price lowering, of these things. However, I tend to think that this unit single-mindedly bucks that trend, and is really being overvalued because so many schools tote it as 'the required equipment'. I'd better hang up my sliderule now! Wish kids (teachers?) would learn on generic scientific calculators, a tenner, job done!

Excellent!
This calculator was very useful during my GCSE Mathematics exams and will without a doubt be useful for A Level Maths in September. The product is a little pricey and the menus take time to get used to especially if you are used to the Casio 85ES and therefore it may seem quite confusing at first. However, after some practice and reading through the booklet, the product is bound to aid you in your exams.Pros:> Handles very complex calculations with ease> Has very good battery life> Is easy to use once you get the feel for itCons:> Quite heavy> A little expensive> Takes some getting used to

Fascinating!
A mightily powerful tool indeed. There's a serious learning curve involved with the device, and hours will just vanish as you get to grips with it. By using much of the calculator's built-in capabilities, you can write powerful programs of your own in just a few lines. Some of the functions will take some effort to get your head around, but it's worth the effort. If you enjoy learning such stuff you will enjoy this.On the down-side, if you don't use Windows, the USB port isn't going to be much help. It would be nice to be able to access the storage in a generic way for backup purposes, if nothing else.

Do not believe the reviews!
It is not easy to update the operating system on this calculator, contrary to the impression given in other reviews. This is important because, as stated elsewhere, as supplied the FX 9750GII does not give exact results. This means, for example, that if an answer is 1/3, the calculator shows the approximate decimal value 0.3333333333 rather than the fraction. For many exam questions answers need to be expressed as fractions, surds, or multiples of pi, and with this calculator that requires extra calculation, together with a good initial guess at what the value should be. In theory, an operating system upgrade should solve this. It's true there are a number of youtube videos about upgrading the OS, but all seem to omit some crucial information (or to be in French), and none specifically address the version of the OS which came with our calculator. Neither I nor my partner (an IT professional) were able to get the alternative OS installed, and at one point we came close to breaking the calculator altogether. I don't doubt the accuracy of the reveiws which say otherwise, but for two reasonably technically confident adults, the resources necessary to do this proved elusive, I therefore advise against buying this (as I did) on the expectation that you can easily resolve the exact results problem with an OS upgrade. In other respects the calculator is fine, it's fast, and draws pretty graphs. So far as I can tell, it doesn't handle calculus, which seemed to be implied by one review, but it will solve simultaneous equations etc.I'm now going to have to buy another, even more expensive calculator to replace this one, as the time cost of messing around in an exam to work out exact results is just too high, and this was a purchase for an A2 maths student. If only they could use my fabulous old Texas Instruments voyager... now that's a real calculator! :)

Great
The postage is outstanding, with the quality of the calculator being in a great state. This calculator is amazing for A level Mathematics and beyond; it's very easy to use and helps a lot. The only improvement I would suggest is that the box is huge when it arrives, especially in comparison to the size of the calculator. It could be a lot smaller, but if it's that big for maintenance reasons then that's understandable.
