The old phone still worked beautifully, but the coiled cord kept popping out of ...
This phone replaced our 26-year-old Panasonic phone with similar features. The old phone still worked beautifully, but the coiled cord kept popping out of the handset. My thinking is that the plug in the handset was just worn out after all these years. My hubby does telephone checks for his pacemaker, and with the old phone, and the cord popping out during the test, it was becoming a problem. We could have just bought a replacement headset I suppose, but looked forward to something new. I still have the old phone and may use it sometime in the future, just not for pacemaker checks. It fits well on the wall. It sticks out from the wall a tiny bit more compared to the old phone, but it does not cause us any problems. We do not use the second line at all. Just plug your phone line into "Line 1" if you are not going to use two phone lines. Speakerphone works well. The shortcut buttons for the stored numbers works well. It is very simple to store numbers, less steps than the old phone. LCD screen works well, though hubby wishes it could be brighter. He said being mounted on the wall puts the screen at a non-optimal viewing angle. In other words, he thinks it would be easier to view if it were sitting on a table. Our older model did not have the LCD screen, so it's a plus for us. The buttons are big and standout well.

Basic 2 line phone at good price
This is just a basic simple 2 line phone. My old one lasted 6 years before it just quit and I bought another but it is the only 2 line phone I know with the Line 1 Line 2 buttons locking in that position. The other 2 line phones are 'electronic' line switching a default back to Line 1 when you pick up the hand set.I need to select which line I want and lock it there with a pushbutton that stays locked down since I use an automatic hand set lifter with my wireless headset. When it lifts, I want it to be on the line I pre-selected, not to need to depress a 'Line 2' button, for example, each time the hand set is lifted by my headset remote 'lift' button.

Retro at its best
I had high hopes for this telephone. Long have I looked for a line-powered speaker phone with a real handset cradle--the kind that the phone doesn't slide off the hook once it is hung up or gets breathed on wrong and flies off the phone. There are not many left. I don't do VOIP and I'm not interested so I don't use this phone for that. I also refuse to pay for caller ID so can't speak on that either. Now, onto the review. CONS This phone is not a "1-button" dialer. In other words, you cannot press the speaker button and have the speakerphone or handset become active / dial tone. You have to first pick up the receiver, and THEN hit the button for speakerphone or headset to become active. Then you have to hang up the receiver again, or else when you disconnect the call by speakerbutton, it won't end the call. This was almost a dealbreaker. I make a lot of calls where I am put on hold for 10-20 minutes before someone picks up. The whole point of the speaker is not to have to mess with the thing until a human actually answers. You can also not answer a call simply by pressing speakerbutton. Also, it was packaged with no extra packaging, no amazon brown box - just the phone's box like you'd put in a cart at Walmart. Not only did it have no protection, the label panasonic is probably going to attract porch pirates. Luckily mine didn't seem to be damaged. Lastly, the headset jack is NOT 3.5 mm.PROS: REAL phone cradle where hang up means the thing doesn't move, shift, or ooze off the receiver, tying up the house line. Speaker does have a volume control and gets fairly loud. Will it work for an elderly person or hard of hearing? Probably not. Two lines, if you still run a fax, or have a second land line, it is a good feature. Memory seems to work well. Line powered for the actual call function, so no need for an AC or batteries if you just plan to make calls with it. The ringer does have an off switch...so rare these days. I don't want telemarketers calling me at 0700!Color is more of a dove grey than a true white, but that's okay too, it's very retro.Would I buy again? IDK, for what I do, I really need to one-touch the speakerphone on. But it was a lot cheaper than "elderly phones," which is about all the other option you have for a line-powered speakerphone these days.

Nice phone
This phone is easy to program and just as easy to use. The digits are large and easy to see. The only thing I do not care for is there is no display light. So the screen is hard to view at times. Also this set need to be angled a bit not so flat when sitting on the desktop.

Nice Retro Style
Impressive stye and good sound quality. Can't think of a thing I would change, other than a longer handset cord. Oh... and the display should have been designed at a tilt so it is easier to read. With my tall desk, I have to stand up to see it clearly. Would definitely buy another one though.

One bad quirk that may make you think twice.
This phone has a feature that can be annoying, If you are on line 1 or 2 and a call comes in on the other line, the phone button will flash, but it won't ring. You can not change that feature. So, if your back is to the phone base, or if you are following directions on the computer, or working on the computer as you talk and a call comes in on the other line, you are sunk. It is an understandable feature, but there should be a way to override it. Other then that, once you put the batteries in, it works nicely, like any other 2 line phone.
