This is something I’d rather have and not need than need and not have. We do some road trips and sometimes in middle of nowhere areas or driving over bodies of water for extended periods. While I hope to never use this tool, it is a quality all in one life saving device. We tested the seat belt cutter on some old nylon tie-downs and it worked really well. The tool has limited parts so the risk to not operate as intended or in a split second disaster, I do t have to try to figure out how it works. I did keep mine in the black tray it comes in since it is also the shield for the metal points that are designed to pierce glass. While they are locked in there, it is easy to pop out and the bright orange color helps to quickly locate.

I never knew this type of tool existed. Sadly, it took a headline story of a missing teenage girl and the recovery of her car/remains in a lake for me to first hear about the car safety hammer. These are very well built, and the added case to hold them and protect your hands from the pointed hammer ends is a huge plus!I hope we NEVER have to use these, but it gives me great 'peace of mind' to know we have them in both cars.I didn't want it 'mounted' on our nice interiors, but find that they store easily in the door pockets, console or glove box on either vehicle, so you have plenty of options.TWO for this price was really good, so for us it was a 'perfect' purchase.

Bought these for gifts and was very pleased with their construction. You never know on some items that you are buying and I was extremely pleased with these.
