The light is white when you turn it on. It says to pat it to get the colors on, I found that picking it up and putting it back down on the nightstand was more reliable. Then when you want it to stay on a color, pick it up and put it on the nightstand again. When you notice it skipping colors, it is time to change the batteries. Kiddo loves it.

Nice glow
This little light is perfect for a child's room or baby nursery. It's very cute. It does not produce a lot of light but it is perfect for a simple night light to make any child feel comfortable in the dark.

My daughter loves it!
Got exactly what she wanted. The only issue, if any, is you have to unscrew the battery pocket if whoever you get it for isn't sure. However, that process is as easy as pie. Great product. Easy to use and a nice aesthetic for any child's bedroom.
