A TRULY GREAT AND ENJOYABLE BOOK PRESENTING MIDDLE EASTERN RECIPES FOR THE HOME COOK
Having just purchased Mona Hamadeh's 'A Lebanese Feast', I was keen to buy this book for her meat and fish recipes. True, it duplicates some of her vegetarian and sweet 'Feast' recipes, but overall, there are so many other delights included all written in Mrs Hamadeh's homely, inclusive and very clear manner. Each recipe is accompanied by a photograph which entices the reader to get busy recreating these delicious dishes. The book is full of background information about the cooking traditions and methods of Lebanese cooks and gives an insight into the family-orientated warmth and sharing way of life. It reflects a lifestyle which we, in the west, have largely forgotten.Sourcing ingredients is easy. Most supermarkets stock most of the spices and herbs required to make Mrs Hamadeh's recipes and there are plentiful online shops where one can buy the more unusual ingredients. Try https://foratasteofpersia.co.uk/shop/ for a wide selection of middleeastern ingredients. As stated in my review of 'A Lebanese Feast', I suggest that people who have watched Nigel Slater's recent BBC programmes on middle eastern cookery and wished to see an accompanying cook book, they need look no further than both books written by Mona Hamadeh. Why, I wonder, hasn't she been invited to present a television series demonstrating her remarkable ability and skill to inspire us to produce delicious, fresh and satisfying dishes for ourselves.I shall be buying plastic protective book jackets for my books as they will be used over and over again with great pleasure and enthusiasm.I highly recommend Mrs Hamadeh's books and thank her for producing them. I'm sure other purchasers will share my admiration and go on to create for themselves exciting and delicious menus for family and friends to share.

Great recipes, but why is there no index?
I agree with the other reviews - this is a really good cookbook. The recipes I've tried so far (three of them) are easy, don't rely on complicated ingredients, and turn out really delicious. I took off one star because I have already found what I think is a mistake in one of the recipes, and also ... there is no index, only a table of contents, which is a bit annoying.

Description of book a wee bit misleading...
Bought this book as in description it states 'vegetarian' stuff. Have gone through book and over 1/3 is meat based. Taking that on board the book is beautifully laid out with photos of each recipe. I would say that Lebanese salad dressing being olive oil, lemon, garlic and salt is a bit lame. Being a vegan I bought this to expand my horizons knowing I would have to veganise certain recipes but feel the line 'occasional meat on the back cover is a bit far fetched.

Delicious!
This is a wonderful cookbook, really great to try all sorts of different dishes and flavour combinations. I have always enjoyed Lebanese food in restaurants but haven't cooked much beyond a few middle eastern classics so have enjoyed trying new things.I haven't managed to try EVERYTHING yet but can recommend the Sheikh el Mehshi and the Foul Mdammas particularly - totally delicious and straightforward to make.I particularly like that this cookbook is peppered with pictures and you get a real sense that this is a REAL person cooking and celebrating tasty food with their family. The recipes are easy to follow and all the food is sociable and family-orientated.Enjoy!
