I went to look on the bottle to make sure I told you correctly. The bottle says it kills fleas, ticks, lice and "flea eggs"...there isn't too much out there that kills the flea eggs. I don't want to sound like an advertisement for this company but this is the best shampoo I have ever used. I volunteer at several animal shelters, train dogs professionally and have six dogs of my own. I love the way my dogs smell after using this, the clean way the feel. Their fur is very soft after using this. I have two dogs that get very itchy. This helps with that. The down side is the last time I bought a bottle from pet smart it cost almost $20. I think that was a 12 oz bottle. When I found a gallon of this on here for a little over $50, I bought it as fast as I could. Also one thing else, after I wash them in this, they seem to stay cleaner longer then when I use other shampoos. I hope I helped you. God Bless.

Does this shampoo have a shelf life?

I've had this shampoo for a long time- my dog is small so I don't use too much at a time- it's a great shampoo!

Do I have to wear gloves when shampooing the cat with this?

No. In the more than 15 years I have used this shampoo for our dogs I never wore gloves. I did, however, wash my hands thoroughly afterwards. If you have super sensitive skin though perhaps wearing gloves is probably wise. I hope this answered your question.

Will it burn or harm a dog with scratches or bites from itching (torn skin)?

No. I do dog rescue and use it on dogs on bad shape. Mange, scabies, bites and open areas of skin. It has not hurt one yet and been using it for months.
