New Review
Upon posting my “negative” results on this radio previously (now deleted), the makers contacted me to inform me that I had a defected product and offered to send me another for replacement, and re-evaluation. Upon receiving such, I then asked them the following questions:1) How long does it take to fully charge the unit via solar power alone in full sunlight? 2) How long to fully charge it via the USB (electrical power) plug? 3) What is the rate of dump charge for it to charge cell phones? For instance, 1 hour to charge 25% - ? 4) Is the rechargeable battery replaceable and if so, how much and where to obtain? 5) Where is this unit made, it doesn't state it anywhere? 6) Why are none of these questions provided in the instructions or advertisement on Amazon or other sources?Their response: Thanks for your good questions for us.Please be informed that this item is a flashlight radio and the charging is a Miscellaneous Function.Just like a power bank for emergency.Because the solar panel is 30 mAh, the conversion rate is low. Then theoretically it takes about 70 hours to charge the unit fully. If you charge the unit with the USB, it depends on the subject of charge. Our staff tests it by charging it with the USB from the computer; theoretically it takes about 6-7 hours.About the rate of dump charge for the cell phones, it depends on the current capacity of your cell phone. It is not suggested to replace the battery because it needs the professional staff to do so.The unit is made in our China factory. Thanks for your good suggestions and we will try our best to improve it in our product description. If you still have any further concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.We will try our best to help you.Evaluation:The 2000 solar mAh radio and flashlight worked just fine, but I got this primarily to charge my cell IPhone 5 cell phone (rated around 1400 mAh) via solar, but upon learning that it would take “70 hours to charge the unit; I then skipped this procedure. I then proceeded to charge the radio via the USB plug provided for 6 hours and attempted to charge my cell phone and it actually charged about 40% in 2 hours, but the phone indicated that “Charging is not supported with this accessory.” If one is looking for a unit to charge a cell phone via solar alone, you might want to look at the Eton FRX5 which works wonders with their large solar panel. All in all, this unit passed the test for its limitations.

Like the mp3 capability
There seemed to be two models, one with and one without a mp3 function. Since unit was to be used during camping, I didn't expect there to be radio frequency available. Therefore, it was important that the unit had mp3 capability. Initially I was inserting the SD card backwards so I thought the unit did not function properly but once I placed the card in proper, it worked fine. It served its purpose so we're happy.

Also made them laugh at Christmas when I gave it to them with a nice lecture on being properly prepared for life
my mother the most prepared organized person I know moved to Florida and realized during a hurricane they didn’t have a radio. Well now they do, and it does so much more. Also made them laugh at Christmas when I gave it to them with a nice lecture on being properly prepared for life :)

Nifty device
All works well except I'm unsure if the solar power functions to charge... didn't seem to budge

The only thing I don’t like is it doesn’t show what station you are on
The only thing I don’t like is it doesn’t show what station you are on. Wish I had got one that did. Other than that it works perfectly

Excellent quality & sturdy
Excellent product, high quality. Multiple features necessary in case of emergency. Everyone should have a radio for updates on where to find food and shelter. This one is sturdy hand-crank and solar so you can read broadcasts. Living in Hawai'i, so it's a must have with current international political climate. We also had a a storm this week that knocked out power, with data and phone towers down, there was no way to get information on cell phone or electronic device. The flashlight is bright. I recommend testing product and practicing with kids once in a while. Will test more and give an update later. Aloha!

Good quality product
Good quality product. Everything works as supposed to. Suggest improvement for future model:1/ The lens of the LED light should be improved to avoid a dark circle around the light spot. 2/ Should have socket for earphones. The mono sound signal can be splitted up to be played on stereo earphones. 3/ Should have a compartment for storing the USB cable on the gadget. 4/ The solar panel works good enough but would be better if it can be flipped up at an angle to make the charging more efficient.
