Really wish I could buy fresh locally. But, it's an incredibly delicious less spicy version of table pepper that's tasty lasts in the mouth like szechuan pepper, allspice, and wasabi.

This is an inferior product, a waste of time and money. Do not buy. Taste will ruin whatever you add it to, and a strange sour taste lingers on the tongue and mouth after eating it. I lived in India for 2.5 years and used this spice often, so I know what "normal" quality is for long pepper. This is sub-par. It belongs in the trash, not in your food.

It was a bit stale and could have been dried a lot more.

It has an earthy aroma with subtle citrus hints. The heat is more than black pepper but smoother and not sharp. I would use a blade coffee grinder or a large mortar and pestle for this spice.

The pepper is very stale and damp. It's also small so perhaps it's immature. Fresh long pepper should be exciting. It should be crisp, aromatic and delicious, and this unfortunate purchase was the opposite of that.

If this is a good example of Longpepper, then I can see why black pepper became so popular.
