This book is worth having in your collection for three reasons:1. ITS BEAUTY: It is simply a beautiful book to look at and leaf through. The photography is stunning, the quality of the pages exudes elegance and the lay out so very appealing.2. ITS RECIPES: the recipes come from both celebrity humanitarians (Meryl Streep, Annie Lennox, Nelson Mandela etc) and also women from Afghanistan, South Sudan, Bosnia, Iraq, the DRC, Rwanda, Kosovo, Rwanda and Nigeria. The celebrity recipes are an eclectic mix of recipes that are well known and 'well tested and tried'. For the most part, they are delightfully uncomplicated (something i value given the limited time i have to cook) and nearly every recipe has a beautiful picture that accompanies it.The recipes from the WfW Sisters are the best part though! It is an incredible education because every recipe is accompanied by a short blurb about the main characteristics of the country's cuisine and how it relates to its geography, ethnic diversity and cultural nuances. It is a stark reminder of how food reflects culture or vice versa and is the ultimate lesson in how much of the world has a much shorter link between farm and table -they eat what is in season! We have so much in common through food - and even though I consider myself someone quite "aware" of different foods (my family is part malaysian, part italian, and part Barbadian), I never realized just how much we have in common until I read this book.3. ITS SIGNIFICANCE: This book will increase your awareness of just how important it is to help the WOMEN of a war torn country rebuild THEIR lives - so that they can rebuild the life of the country as a whole. You will read short stories of various women who were able to get sponsorship from a 'sister in the west' which has allowed her to learn a skill, gain independence, start a business and become a leader in her community. These are short reads and often a humbling experience but it is NEVER a guilt trip! It is truly is a celebration. You will also read a story of how sponsorship changes the life of one of the sponsors. Even if you choose NOT to sponsor a sister after you read this - you will simply be a more empathetic human being for having even got as far as purchasing this book and reading a few stories. Knowing that the authors actually went to visit their 'sisters' makes it all so real and even more significant for me.Also - you may find it utterly fascinating to follow the journey of this small group of women (led by Lauri Pastrone) who decided to put this book together...............inspiring stuff.SO GO FOR IT! Buy a cookbook, eat some wholesome food, learn about other countries' cuisine, donate to charity and develop your sense of empathy...............not many "self-help" books out there can give you this much of a "feel good" experience!

This book is AMAZING!! It immediately draws you in, and engages you on so many different levels.The photography is stunning! Beautiful pictures of the food, and of the people from the different countries where Women for Women International is helping.The book is wonderful in how it presents the stories of each country, of women & families that have truly benefited and grown through the support of the program, and then sharing the fabulous recipes from all around the world! It is well organized, creative, and a delight to read! It is fascinating the number of celebrities and leaders who have contributed to the book through their inspiring quotes, and sharing their favorite recipes! There are so many interesting and enticing recipes, with simple ingredients--recipes that realistic and doable.This is much more than just a cookbook--it will widen your outlook to the world's needs and how you can help, and you will be inspired by the stories of these amazing women. It is a joy to read! You need to Share this book with everyone you know!

I gave this book to a friend who has traveled to many poor countries and always comes back with tales of the good food he had there! He was delighted with the book, both for the healthy and tasty recipes and also for the wonderful photography, another of his big interests.I had the good fortune to hear Zainab Salbi speak at a conference on hunger a few years ago, and she was a dynamic person. She was a woman whose life changed dramatically because of war, and she recognized how women's and children's lives were damaged as a result of war. She created Women for Women International, an organization that gives women training in understanding their rights and in training for a job that will enable the women to care for themselves and their children. This magnificent, beautiful cookbook is the creation of a dear friend of mine and her industrious circle of friends. Her goal was to make a difference in the world while entering a new decade of her life. I personally was witness to the amazing amount of work, joy, creativity, and collaboration that ensued as the project progressed. Its main purpose was as a fundraiser for Women for Women International, which I had personally been involved with for many years, and greatly admired. The end product is SO much more than I ever imagined. It is a beautiful cookbook, yes, but also a social lesson on the value and endurance of women, be they the creators of the cookbook itself, or the women well served by Women For Women. It is truly a work of art and dedication. I can't wait to try the recipes!!

A beautiful book and stories and recipes from amazing women throughout the world.

This was a gift for my sister-in-law who is a novice cook. She says that the recipes are delicious, easy to make, and out of the ordinary. She also enjoys reading the provided cultural descriptions and recent histories of the countries where the dishes come from.

Share is the most beautiful cookbook, and maybe the most beautiful book of any kind, I have ever seen. You really have to see it to believe it. The recipes are amazing; I especially love the salads but my guess is every one is a winner. Literally every recipe can be a great conversation started at your next dinner party, social gathering or family meal. I've given Share to many friends; it is a great gift to "Share" with just about anyone. Even if someone doesn't cook, it's the kind of book anyone will enjoy having in their home. Not to be overlooked, all proceeds benefit Women for Women, Int'l. Amazing and inspirational cookbook that supports a very worthy cause!

I loved this book even before I tried any of the recipes. It's beautifully- presented, it's collaborative, it contains recipes from all over the world (each with a personal story behind it), the recipes are interesting but not lengthy and don't require difficult-to-find ingredients, the fact that it's made for Women for Women International - all these qualities make it incredibly appealing.And then I started trying the recipes and then fell completely in love it. Aung San Suu Kyi's Burmese Fish Curry and Sheryl WuDunn's Spinach and Fennel Risotto were easy to make and a huge hit with my entire family. On every single page there is another recipe that I can't wait to try.I can't recommend this book highly enough and have already bought extra copies to share with friends.... Enjoy!

The collaboration of so many people in bringing this book to publication in support of the work of Women for Women International is a wonderful and inspiring achievement. And the book is full of food to be enjoyed.A truely inspiring book, for which every home should have a place at its heart. The presentation, style and photography are beautiful - and so much goodwill has gone into the creation of this book. This is more than just a cookbook; its also a wonderful collection of stories from brave women who have survived so much and are still so hopeful. I found the insight into these women's struggles moving and inspiring. Regarding the recipes, they are varied, very easy to follow and every single dish I've prepared so far has been truly delicious. The recipes have been provided by many celebrities as well as women who have been helped by Women for Women International. I don't normally review purchases, but felt compelled to do so on this occasion. I would definitely recommend this book.

Top class and excellent quality cookbook. There are some fantastic recipes BUT the book is more than just about the recipes it has a greater purpose i.e. sharing the lives and tales of some of the female contributors. The funds go to support the causes and plights of women worldwide. A big congratulations to the team who put this delightful volume together. (Just a pity that it took Amazon 3 attempts to get an undamaged book to me! Third time lucky and very well pleased!)

'Share' is a beautiful cookbook, full of hope and inspiration, it has become a well loved kitchen companion, easy to use and the food is simply delicious.
