Well worth the money
I like it. Got the green. The string slots are filed a little low for my taste the bridge a little high but playable out of the box. Good looking not the greatest sound but a great guitar to upgrade or for a beginner. My 3rd grote and happy. Adding on to my reveiw. This thing is really nice. Tweeked the truss rod a bit and lowered the bridge a bit and it plays perfect. The tuners feel a little cheap but no dead spots and it stays in tune great! No complains at all im an very impressed. Ive never had a tele or semi hollow before and this combo is more impressive every time i pick it up. Im bangin the strings playing hard rock and its sounding pretty good and tight. Maybe my old school crate gx amp helps but i dont care. Any upgrades will be happily done. Cant imagine any better for for 3 times the price. Thanks grote a very happy 3 time buyer!

Great guitar for the money - Could benefit from setup
2nd purchase of a Grote Telecaster. For the money, they are really good playing guitars. No, its not a Fender MIM Telecaster or USA Tele but the guitar plays great and sounds great for its price. Guitars have come a long way in past 2-3 decades. Knowing how to fix/repair/setup guitars helps tremendously with these guitars. I'll explainPro's:Neck is nice satin C shape - Very comfortable playing guitarGood sounding pickups - No hum/overtonesNut height cut well - Approx 1/64 - 1 1/2/64 across all six stringsCons:Fret ends a little sharpFrets are not polished/smoothe - When bending strings, Noticeable grinding/scratching sound across neck - Guitar is playable but could benefit from level/crown/polishTuners are pretty decent for price - With tightening nut on top of peghead during string change and phillips head, Tuners are pretty good.Neck pocket was a little shallow from factory causing high action with saddles lowered as possible. Created/fitted shim in bottom of neck pocket to adjust angle and plays much better.Overall:Keep in mind this guitar is 109. Its expected that the guitar should be playable out of the box. However if your familiar with setting up guitars and tweaking them to your preference. This, just like any guitar can benefit from the following:Crown/Level/Polish fretsPossible neck shim to adjust angle3M Scotchbrite pad (Purchased from Dollar Tree) to smooth back of neck even more to play fast/smootheTighten hardwareLube on stringtree/nut/saddlesSet pickup heightOverall, Very happy with guitar and definitely would purchase another Grote soon

Can not believe the price on this!!!
This is the second Grote guitar I have bought, and I’m extremely glad that I did! The neck feels fantastic. Fret ends are dressed very well, an unusual thing in this price range (my first Grote was, as well!), neck feels very nice...not too thin, not too thick. I’m not 100% certain what the top is, but it looks to be some sort of plywood, with poly over a printed design. If you’re a believer in tone wood, this probably isn’t for you. That said, this thing sounds great through my Bugera T5! Pickups have that typical Tele sound and feel to them, without any microphonic noise. Definitely has a wiring issue, which is something I come across on quite a few of the Chinese guitars. I haven’t cracked it open to correct that yet, but will most likely change the tone cap and possibly even the pots while I’m at it. Volume control doesn’t shut off the volume. This is usually nothing more than a switched wire, which I’m sure is what I will find. I’m not really liking the feel of the volume pot anyway, so if I replace it, won’t hurt my feelings. I have plenty of good used ones lying about😉. Shipping was a nightmare! They send the guitar in just the inner box, usually. My first one of this model arrived with damage visible after opening the package and both knobs pushed through the broken pickguard. Initiated a return, and got the new one inside a second, bigger box...but no padding or anything to stop the guitar moving around. Still and all, this one arrived without damage, and the return/exchange couldn’t have been easier. This guitar is definitely a good player and, once I correct the wiring issue that it has, I would have zero issue with playing it out. It’s just a really solid guitar, well worth the $114, after tax, that I paid for it! Thanks, Grote!!!
