Can the wheel be programmed to control up/down keys?

I'd tried in mine but could'nt.

What type of usb connector does it use? usb-a, usb-c?

Standard USB connection. Made for desktop computers and it's been around for over 10 years, nothing has changed.

How long is the usb cord?

I am guessing that it is about 8' long, more than enough for me to plug it in tower and have any place on my desk. Hope that helps
