High Quality Gear Oil in my Track Car
The media could not be loaded. Summary: Motul’s 300LS gear oil is a great lubricant that has kept my car’s manual transmission and rear differential running smoothly. I have tried several different types of gear oil over the years, and Motul’s 300LS oil seems to be the best so far (from a ride quality and oil life perspective). When coupled with Amazon’s delivery speed, the overall purchase was a great value. The funnel built into the cap is a nice touch, but is not as effective/easy as other solutions. Will purchase again when needed, but will likely use a different container to fill the transmission of my car. Please feel free to keep reading for further details if you’re contemplating which oil to use for your track car.Context: I currently have more than 167K miles on my 2013 Japanese coupe’s original transmission and original differential. I am a spirited driver and occasionally take my car onto race tracks (5 times on the track - started tracking after 155K miles of spirited driving on the road and canyons). Due to the harsh conditions from track use and age of the vehicle, the gear oil change intervals are more frequent than recommended by the manufacturer (probably overkill, but every 3K miles). The Good: While replacing gear oil on a transmission typically makes a car’s shifting experience feel buttery smooth, this gear oil seems to be the best so far and has yet began to fade in performance after 1,500 miles). As mentioned above, the price on Amazon was great considering the cost of delivery was included (and as always, was fast), which is important as this gear oil is not always easy to find on the shelf of your typical neighborhood auto hardware store. Despite the “okay” section below, the caps/containers are able to be resealed well and I was able to refill the bottles with the old oil so it can be transported to disposed of appropriately (not recommending you do this, just explaining what I did to dispose of the old oil properly). The “okay”: If pouring directly from the oil container, the shape of the container combined with the provided funnel can trap some oil, which could result in a small amount of unwanted waste unless you really squeeze it out. If you don’t have a lot of space to work with (crawling under a car with a transmission fill hole in a tight spot) there are other products that are easier to use without purchasing a separate funnel (Valvoline gear oil comes in a soft container with a small tip that enables users to squeeze out the oil with ease (e.g. rolling-up the container from the bottom), but you can always use a different method to change transmission or differential oil in a vehicle. This would not deter me from repurchasing this product through Amazon.

Quiet and Smooth Transmission Operation
I started using Motul 300LS when I switched out my open differential with an OS Giken Limited Slip Differential (LSD). The LSD has worked flawlessly now for about 8 years. I do swap out the fluid every couple of years but I'm very hard on my car and believe in more maintenance than most.
