Good non-professional monitor
This is a pretty good monitor for casual use. Very large, high resolution. I have two of them and no dead-pixel issues. However, these are not professional monitors. If you think you will eventually want a 2nd monitor, go with professional IPS displays because the color balance between the two is different, even with the color profile setup. The white balance is most noticeable. Fiddling with the color/contrast/brightness settings got them pretty close. Finally, I wouldn't recommend this monitor for serious gamers due to the use of overdrive (see below). - One annoyance is the capacitive button for the menu. When your hand gets near it, it lights up. Sometimes it'll light up for no reason and is distracting. Having electronics near the button may cause it to light up too. - The default color settings are a bit odd. If you think the monitor doesn't look "right" out of the box, change the RGB settings so they are the same. Mine shipped with some odd settings. The preset modes are not desirable. - Make sure you use DVI with this monitor. The resolution is too high for this to look right over VGA. Isn't a dealbreaker though. I connect my laptop to it all the time when working from home via VGA. - Display is pretty good. Haven't noticed any serious problems with ghosting or artifacts once overdrive was turned off. - Wecam and built-in mic work as advertised. I wouldn't by it for this reason though. It is built-in and flush with the monitor, and isn't re-positionable. If you are in need of a webcam, invest in a good one that is adjustable. - Would be nice, but again, not a deal breaker (this behavior is consistent with a lot of other displays): I wish the built-in USB hub would still work when the monitor was off. Maybe a mechanical type switch on the back for "real" off and a button on the front for "display" off. I constantly have some flash drive connected to it and will copy data to it that will take a few hours. So I'll get up and do something else, and out-of-habit, turn the monitor off. I'll come back and find none of my data was copied because I effectively disconnected the device. - The adjustable base is OK. Doesn't offer a ton in terms of positioning, but it gets the job done. Basically allows for 0"-6" adjustment in height, +/- 20 degrees of tilting, +/- 75 degrees of rotation (I'm just eyeballing these measurements). - *This monitor ships with "overdrive" on*. This is a technique that artificially increases the response time, but can have some side effects. This is a bit tricky to explain, so I'll link to it: [...] - you can turn it off though. - It makes a horribly loud beeping noise every time you press a menu button, but thankfully it can be turned off.Overall, this is a good monitor for what you are paying for. Just be aware of what you are paying for :-)

Good, but not perfect
This display is nice, but not perfect. First, there is nothing wrong with the monitor; I'm happy with it. The webcam works well, but I seldom use it. Unfortunately the USB hub built-in only works if the monitor is powered on.I'm not a fan of the touch (buttonless) power and settings buttons, but the on-screen menu system does work well. I, personally, would prefer physical buttons because it sometimes takes a couple of attempts to correctly hit the button. The base stand is nice and articulates well. I would prefer if the screen would tilt slightly forward, but this from a peculiarity of my setup.

Beautiful screen, great webcam, good microphone, HUGE screen!!!
Ok, I'm over obsessing about this, but everything works pretty awesome. It came packaged well and I hooked it up. The power button was nifty and cool. When I turn the screen itself (not the CPU) on, it makes a cool sound and also the 5 buttons above it light up in a cool pattern. The webcam was pretty good, the microphone quality is ok, so I'm really liking this! This is a HUGE upgrade from a 19" screen that's all square, not widescreen.I recommend this product to anyone, thank you Dell!!! :)

I have no complaints about this monitor. I am not a computer wizard, so I don't know how it compares to other monitors. It looks good!

Good monitor
The webcam and mic are a plus, and the monitor itself is quite bright and clear.I have owned this device for going on two years now.Pros: Webcam/mic big bright display. Correct absolute max brightness/contrast are 100brightness and 72 contrast. After 70-72 you will start to blow out the whites and lose color fidelity rapidly. I default the brightness at 90 and contrast at 50-64 depending on time of day. RGB color is relatively well balanced by default under white light.Cons: Horrible viewing angle. Unless you are perfectly aligned visually to it there is very little room to move. SO if you change sitting positions and your height changes a few inches, you will see the top of the screen darken/lighten often. Its enough for me personally to put a high priority on viewing angles next time I buy a LCD. I took 2 stars off for this alone.

USB prevent booting and weak microphone
Dell SP2309W 23-Inch LCD Widescreen Monitor I bought this directly from Dell. The good:As a monitor, it is very good. High resolution, good color and contrast, even it lacks LED backlight.I bought this mainly for the build-in webcam and microphone. Webcam is sharp under enough light. It has no LED light though, so has difficulty in dark room or strong backlight. The bad:My Dell Inspiron 530 can't boot when the monitor's USB port is connected to it. My PC just hang during half way booting before the OS could start. I updated the PC bios to the latest version from Dell, still no luck.Another problem is the microphone, the volume is low and no where to add boost. Also, when in Windows Live Messenger, it appears that I can't do full-duplex. When I talk, I can't hear the other party's sound.Overall, I am disappointed with the USB and microphone.
