Great hiby w3. UAT does work ok when screen off!
Great sound. UAT works quite well with very few brakes IF the phone is not in usage (screen off) and the sound IS different to LDAC. UAT can only work via Hiby music app.I run mostly Hifi Tin P1 with it and it's loud enough even for classical music which is sometimes much lower in volume compared to pop music. It is not louder than LG V20 in high impendance mode though, but one can make it extra louder with hiby app. Hibby app is nice addition to play with sound but I am happy with google music app or LG's integrated music app.The sound is very detailed and a bit gentler to ears than high impendance mode on LG V20. So I am happy with possibilities I have with this hiby w3.It has mike so one can comunicate without a problems of getting the phone out of the pocket etc. Usb C is much appreciated as mini usb brakes too easily. The LDAC connection is very stable (UAT also ok but you do get brakes occasionally). It can be used as usb c to computer dac too although the sound quality is limited to 16bit.It's very small, so it fits in the same case with p1 IEMs.Compared to Fiio K3 which I use as desktop dac the sound is very detailed in both but I can't decide whic is better. Fiio has definitely better volume control.Hiby w3 button volume increments are too big and currently cannot be adjusted in app. You still can get sweet spot by adjusting the volume in app but it's not convenient.Fiio K3 has bas boost which hiby hasn't but I don't find it very useful anyway. Also eq can be applied on the phone. If you own similar IEMs to P1 or headphones that needs more juice or better dac on the go the hiby w3 is a very good option... maybe the best for what it offers in current price range £59 (I got it for £50).I use it also with amazon fire stick as bluetooth cannot be currently controlled with stick's volume control. My partner and I can connect two headphones to it if it's too late.It charges very quickly over usb c port. And can be used while charging too.I can't find any bad points except if you look for balanced output it doesn't have one. I have it on fiio k3 and I don't miss it here with hiby w3.

Disappointed
I bought this to use with my Amazon HD music account. I tried it with my phone and with my Echo Studio. In both cases the music would stop for no reason. This does not happen with a cheap pair of Bluetooth earbuds I have. Sound quality when playing was no better with my expensive headphones than the cheap earbuds.

LDAC decoder isn't working
As some other reviewers mentioned, LDAC just isn't functioning - it'll stop or skip on any quality (mine stuttered at 24-bit/48KHz on a device capable of 192 KHz). Lowering the bitrate doesn't help. Updating the firmware to 1.03 (OTA via app) didn't help either. The only way to use this as a Bluetooth receiver is to switch back to aptX and lower bitrates. Therefore, it's not a HiFi device when it comes to Bluetooth.Another very annoying issue is that their Android app - HiBy Blue - demands access to location and isn't happy with it being granted only when it's running, in other words - they want to know your location at all times, which is of course unacceptable.NB: I haven't even tried this amplifier as a USB DAC as it wasn't the use I had for it, so I've just returned it.

Make your wired headphones wireless
So functionality of this is ok for the size, you have on/off and volume up/down. It's a shame they couldn't have incorporated one button to handle play/pause and skip.Sound quality on my old ears was excellent, tested with Sony MDR-1A and then compared to both direct to phone, external DAC and Sony WF. I couldn't hear any difference in quality which is a great result and volume was louder than you could take at full. There were some issues with initial Bluetooth connection and it's not great on range especially if a wall gets in the way.It does obviously free you up to move whilst wearing wired headphones and means if you are listening from a larger device you don't need to keep it on you.

First impressions after a week of use
I've been using the W3 for around a week now predominantly as a sound card via the USB from a laptop. I have used a iBasso and Fiio DAC/Amp units in the past but the small size of the W3 tempted me to give this a go. First impressions. Easy to set up and use and very light and portable. The sound brings greater clarity and detail to my ears although the lower end is maybe less pronounced than I am used to with the other units. I haven't used the bluetooth function as yet so can't comment on that but overall I'm more than happy with the purchase and the unit in my opinion is great value for money.

Must have
Sure to garner 5star reviews for the foreseeable. Must have for music lovers who like headphones wired or Bluetooth. 30% more volume and 50% clearer soundstage. I’ve tried every aspect of this device with an embarrassing 9 different sets of headphones from iem’s to hardcore over ears and all improved by w3. Will look into using in home cinema system and guitar set up. Seemed A risk with no reviews yet but well worth it. Highly recommended.

Good value
I use this with my Sony XBA-Z5 in ear Hi-Res Headphones.I'm really happy with this little device. Works like a charm with twice the battery time from my previous Bluetooth DAC. No downsides what so ever! Fast charging time etc.Great buy! I can recommend them to anyone who want to use their premium headphones with Iphone or other devices with no outlet for headphones. This device made my Sonys come to life!

Difficult to pair, sound ok
Took a while to get paired properly. Had to upgrade the firmware to be able to use it as a USB DAC. Sound was ok. Was missing lower tones and higher frequencies and not as open as the HiFimeDIY UAE23 USB DAC.
