Q: Can this be used with a stationary recumbent bike? I want to change out my pedals for larger bike pedals, and add some clearance.

Yes . . . I experimented with switching to larger pedals and it worked out great ~ although in my case I did the reverse by taking the 9/16" large foot pedals off my broken down recumbent and installed them on my new upright stationary bike ~~ the female end of the extender excepted the 9/16" pedals and the 1/2" male end fit the standard crank of the stationary bike ~~ although you may be already aware the extender ends are different because ~~ the 9/16" pedal is generally designed as part of a "Two piece crank arm" (found on Recumbent bikes) ~~ while a 1/2" pedal belongs to a "One piece crank arm" (Standard design on stationary or mobile bikes). Nonetheless, there are a variety of extenders measured to fit your needs your only chore is to make sure you have the right thread size at either end ~ these set of extenders will provide about 3/4" rotation clearance making pedaling a smoother uninterrupted experience.

Asin B0037N6NCG is sold as a pair left and right hand . The adapter reduces from a female 9/16” hole which fits a male 9/16" pedal to 1/2” male which fits a female 1/2" crank hole (one piece crank)
