Great value, sharp peeler
Work really well, peel just the right amount without losing half of what you are peeling, and very sharp. Great value

solid peelers for fruit and veggies.
Basic peelers but good quality. Should last a long time. I prefer this wider style to a traditional skinny peeler. Easy to hold , easy to use and easy to find in the drawer thanks to the bright colors.

Prep Kitchen Essential: An Industry Standard
For those who work in the food industry, this one is an essential.Common complaints: Blade rusts, awkward to use, feels cheap.Response:1.) The blade rusts because the peeler is not made of stainless steel. As someone else has already pointed out, it's carbon steel which requires more care (rinse/wash & wipe try with a kitchen towel right away) to prevent rusting. However, this makes the Kuhn Rikon peelers MUCH sharper. They also keep their edge longer than your normal metal swivel head peeler that most people are used to seeing.2.) For new users, the kuhn rikon peeler can feel quite awkward because its Y-shape means that it is best for certain things. In the restaurant business, peeling 10gallons of potatoes for mash happens every couple days and this is the peeler to do it. The Y-peeler is best for certain tasks and requires a certain grip and technique. It takes some getting used to but once you've got it down, you'll be going through apples and potatoes like no one's business.3.) These peelers aren't meant to be kept for years unless of course you only peel a few veggies a year. For the product intended use, these are plenty sturdy, can be thrown around, used, abused and still stay sharper for longer. Many prep cooks go through one of these every couple months just because of the sheer volume of food they prepare. So, with professional wear and tear, you're not going to keep them around forever. The reason why cooking professionals are generally so satisfied with these is that the Kuhn Rikons are the best peelers when considering working efficiency, durability and price.Summary: If you're a home cook who only peels an apple as a snack and a few potatoes for dinner every few days, you might not want to bother with getting used to a different kind of peeler and the slightly higher maintenance. BUT if you're in the food industry, you know that you can't find what the Kuhn Rikon peelers have to offer anywhere else.

Great cheap peelers, careful of rust
These come highly recommended and for good reason, they peel really well, dry carefully as the blades do rust

works great, rusts fast
I love the way these peelers work. I feel very confident I'm not going to lose control of it and slice myself (or more likely my nails) when using them. They are very sharp and easy to use. HOWEVER, I always have rinsed or washed my peelers after usage. These are NOT designed to last as the first time I got them wet, and towel dried them, they started to rust. I thought there must've been something wrong with the first one, so I repeated with the second. It too rusted first time usage. Third and final peeler, I washed, dried and applied oil to it. It began rusting on the third usage.I've got my mother's peeler that STILL hasn't rusted over 25 years later. It's not designed as well (ergonomically) but it will be the peeler I end up using because it is reliable. These ARE incredibly sharp and easy to use, I just wish they lasted longer.

Not the same quality as they used to be.
I bought this item 3rd time in a few years. One of those 3 times was for a gift.Recently one of the three peelers broke and another one got lost. So I was down to only one. I came back to buy another set. They look practicaly identical, but I found that the new ones are not as good as the older ones were.If the vegetable I peel is not hard (for example asparagus) these new ones will slip and won't peel well. On the harder veggies like carrots and potatoes they work fine, but I still feel a bit of a difference.Overall they do the job and they are still better than many other peelers on the market. And I would still recommend them over other peelers (and I tried A LOT!!!)Their blades are made out of the metal that rusts. They always were like that. That is why they are so sharp and work so well. Because of that specific metal.Because of that do NOT put them in the dishwasher and do not throw them into the sink with your dirty dishes! Because they WILL rust. They are ridiculously easy to clean. Just rinse them after use, dry with papertowel or kitchen towel and put them away. And they will last forever and will not rust. Mine never rusted, but I knew they will if I leave them out in the sink for long enough.

Favorite peeler - none better!
I've had all types and brands of peelers but these rock. By far the quickest and easiest way to peel. I've had them for a while now and they have maintained their sharpness, although I don't put in dishwasher. Even got a second set for my beach house. Highly recommend.
