Beautiful and functional
This deadbolt was used on an outside door for a small shed. It is not only a very attractive deadbolt, but a very strong one.

Excellent product and excellent customer service!
I ordered this item and the first order has a little issue. Very rare for this brand BTW. I've being using their locks and bolts for a very long time, with no complaints. I contacted the seller and the item was replaced right away and arrived fast. I give it 5 stars because these problems, although not common, can happen. But still, no brand can compete with the quality of an Schlage product!

Schlage Deadbolts
I'm a Locksmith and I have vendors that I use to purchase products. It's supposed to save me money doing things that way. These are the exact same ones I always use and they're $22 cheaper than my vendor.I stand behind Schlage (Allegion)They're definitely the top for door hardware. Tolerance is better, they're more secure, and quality is so much better than kwikset or any of the generics. They also have Dexter and Falcon at a cheaper price to be competitive. You know those will be just as good quality-wise.

the strike reinforcement plate is not the one listed in the instructions
the strike reinforcement plate has no holes for the strike to be installed on top. i thought the latch would pass through the jam and into the wall framing 2x4, but it doesn't. before i knew this, i drilled out and mortised the 2x4 for the latch and mounted the reinforcement plate on the wall framing supporting the door header and installed the jam (pre-hung door) but the latch does not engage the reinforcement plate. it doesn't have a long enough throw at about 1 inch.the instructions give a choice of using or not using the reinforcement plate, but in reality, there is no using the reinforcement plate if you want to use heavy duty screws. the screw holes in the reinforcement plate do not line up with the screw holes on the the strike, but they almost do. now i will uninstall the door and see if i can drill though the reinforcement plate. if not, then i will return the lock and get the commercial grade for $15 more. i think i will just get the commercial oneedit: i decided to keep it. i have installed these years ago. back in the old days, the reinforce strike was installed under the strike, like the instructions stated i received with the lock. but the engineers who redesigned the lock since then intend that EITHER the reinforce OR the strike be installed, unlike the instructions state. the reason i concluded this is that both the reinforce and the 3 inch screws are matte black. in the old days, the reinforce and it's screws were were zinc silver. i upped the stars from 3 to 4 but also recommend paying a few more dollars for commercial version.
