Toxicology! Because What You Don't Know Can Kill You
Y**.
A Must Have for Everybody
As a professional in the field of Clinical Toxicology, after I heard about the book, I downloaded the ebook version right away and it is an amazing book. It is like reading a detective novel (though I do not read those novels much :-)). Dr. Wu is such an excellent writer. I think everybody in this field should have a copy of this book. People tend to do a lot of behind the scense work in this field and we kind of get lost in our day-in and day-out mundane activities and some time forget why we do what we do - it's for the patients and help people. This book makes me feel how valuable our work is.I also think every family can have one copy - drugs are terrible things. Once addicted, it is so hard to become clean from it. The best way is to stay away from it.My paper book is on my way and I cannot wait to read that - though EBook give the instant gratification, I still like the feeling to hold a book in my hands.]Thank you for putting such a wonderful book together - by the way, I do not know how Dr. Wu has so much energy to accomplish what we have accomplished - check out his website: [...].

'There are eight million stories in the naked city'
This book reads like it was straight off the script of Dragnet...'only the facts, ma'am'. Every case is extraordinarily riveting and concise. I doubt that even the most fertile and devilishly creative story writer could have dreamt up so many medical, legal and scientific twists and turns. Yet, each case is true. To the layman, the science is fascinating and relevant in every day life. To the knowledgeable, the science and methodologies must be like classroom lessons and required reading.I personally found the book impossible to put down and finished far too quickly leaving me hungry for more. What goes on behind the scenes of real situations is under-appreciated and the book speaks volumes on this.Robin Cook and Michael Crichton, step aside, there's a new guy in town.

Eye Opening Book....a must read.
I found this book very enlightening and a real eye opener for the lay person. Who thinks of toxicology? I will now. What you don’t know can definitely kill you. These cases are a great collection of short stories based on real life situations. While they are all independent of each other they are based on scientific laboratory findings. How many of us ever think to ask our team of doctors if they have consulted with a clinical toxicologist in assessing our treatment plan or diagnosis? I will now. I see a great opportunity for a television series based on these cases. I give this book a 5 star rating. It is a real page turner. Thank you Dr. Wu!

A great book for both the lay public and someone "semi-professional" ...
A great book for both the lay public and someone "semi-professional" like me that wants to join the clinical chemistry community. The short stories are well written, and very easy to read. More importantly, they actually reflect what's going on in the entire health care system from the perspective of a clinical chemistry expert, which made me be able to learn much more than clinical laboratory stuff. Interestingly, most of the concepts/ideas presented in the book overlap with the major bullet points taught by my clinical chemistry professor in the class. I strongly recommend this book to anyone, especially the students, who are thinking about becoming a clinical toxicologist/chemist.

A 5 star mystery series of stories
This is definetly a 5 star read. While each story stands independently, the common thread is found in the title. If you like mystery stories, each story is filled with the science behind the successful solution. It is easy for the reader to imagine a courtroom, District Attorney's office or a hospital as the setting as the setting in a movie or TV series depicting these stories. The author is well credentialed as a scientist/toxicologist to lead the reader through the solution process. I enjoyed this book and hope there are more to come from Dr. Wu.

Reality isn't all happy endings
Being real, the stories seldom have happy endings. It's toxicology, so people are likely at least sick, and death is what brings suspicion, so don't expect a great uplift. Do expect real stories, real problems, and to be at least bit more aware after reading.

A Terrific Read
This is a great book, written by an expert for non-experts who want to know more about pathology and toxicology. The book consists of twenty-one accounts of cases in which the author was actually involved, either directly or indirectly. The author writes clearly, in an engaging style. If you’re interested in forensic medicine, you must read this book.

but in a manner that is easy and interesting for non-scientists to comprehend
This is an extremely well written book highlighting the importance of toxicology, but in a manner that is easy and interesting for non-scientists to comprehend. I actually finished the book in one day, and will now be using it as part of my classroom teaching of Scientific Inquiry, as I know my non-science students will really enjoy this.
