Very nice microscope
I bought this at the recommendation of a watch repairer for my burgeoning watch restoration hobby. It is extremely well made, and has a clear and powerful view.I ended up returning it in favor of a digital microscope that is easier to see and can record pictures and video - however, this microscope technically did everything I needed. It's construction is heavy and solid. It's not accidentally sliding off of your desk or being knocked over. The lighting is excellent, and is convenient to switch between the two light sources. The instructions indicate that there may be halogen alternatives to the bulbs used, and for my purposes I would have looked at purchasing those to provide a little colder light temperature. The magnification is excellent. I didn't even unpack the high-powered eyepieces and the magnification was still more than enough for my needs.Overall, this is a well-made, well-packaged optical microscope that does what it does very well.

Great for kids!
I bought this for my 6 year-old and it's a great purchase for the price. It is heavy and durable. There is a top light and bottom light that provide adequate viewing. The ocular lens is easy to use as well as the objection lens. It's perfect for bugs, small rocks and other minor objects like bone fragments etc. I have a few slides for a compound microscope that I can see with this stereo microscope....but don't expect much on the cellular level from this one. This stereo scope is GREAT for small objects!!!

Educational and entertaining. Get one!
Well built, not a toy. Optics great for the price. Even with 20X eyepieces, a little lower quality image, but still good. Of course there is no 10X as the description says (10X--80X). You have 20/40 or 40/80, depending on the eyepieces. I've used it with a 10X eyepiece one side, and a 20X on the other in order to quickly go from 20-80 without having to change out eyepieces. I know, it's only monocular then, but still good enough for most viewing. Be aware that the light does get hot.

Owned for two years. GREAT microscope!
I am a student of microbiology and genetics. I have owned this for about 2 years now. It is a VERY nice microscope. Resolution is great, it is versatile, and nothing has broken on it. The bulbs it came with are still working. It is slightly smaller than laboratory grade stereo microscopes, but that is good because lab size ones are quite big lol Too big for my desk. But this one is just a great size. And it allows you to adjust the height to fit bigger objects on the stage. I can't think of anything bad to say about it and I'm just really happy with it. :) Thanks AmScope!P.S. When using the 20X occulars, you might have to get your eyes closer to the lenses to see anything. I find that moving the eyepieces closer together helps me with this.

Solid, good optics, low price
The scope is quite good. Excellent for the price. Prospective buyers should know that the lighting, which works very well, is from bulbs that do get quite hot. Hot enough that you cannot touch their enclosure. So if you can afford the more expensive version with the LED lighting you should get that. But this scope will save you some money as long as you are aware of that problem. I have 2 very expensive Nikon scopes from the 70's for micro-biology, but I was really impressed with the quality of the optics and the solid construction of this one, not even considering the low price.

Perfect.
Perfect for seed identification. It focuses and adjusts really easily. The power cord is a whopping 5.5 feet long. You get a frosted glass plate and a double sided black/white plate. Top and bottom lights that you have to use separately. Just wow.

Awesome Microscope!
All the stars. For sure! WE LOVE it! More importantly, all the kids (3) and all their friends and all the parents' friends... everyone loves it! If we are having friends over, we can just put it on the table. No need for an icebreaker! :) It has a really good depth of focus. It allows you to grab things with tweezers, disassembly (watches etc) dissection (even teff seeds). Try looking at ice cream sprinkles. They look like bowling balls, but they're irregular and spotty. Very weird! You can backlight as well as front light, but not at the same time. Good enough to see blood cells as dots. I just have to note that we already owned at least 2 or 3 regular microscopes. It was totally worth springing for the money to get the improved view!
