Q: Does this record and save multiple tracks?

This is only an interface to do recording on your machine. This does not store anything locally. You still need software to do the actual recording/storing of files. It comes with ProTools Express which IMO sucks because you must use monitors in order to hear what you are doing. ProTools will not output to your sound card, it will only come back out the monitor port of the AKAI box. I grabbed Cakewalk Sonar from Steam and that allows me to do either up to 2 stereo inputs (1/2 + 3/4) or up to 4 mono inputs for recording and I can output to my sound card so I can hear without investing in studio monitors.Works like a charm though.

Q: So, i was hoping to be able to plug in a couple of midi controllers, a mic, and possibly a guitar. is this a possibility?

Long answer short, yes. I currently have 3 midi/usb controllers plugged into the usb hub then a condenser Mic and my bass xlr Jack's in the front. All 4 of those have the option for 48v power. There is also one midi in and midi out port on the back.

Q: How many headphone jacks does this have?

Just one official headphone jack, but you can use a splitter to be able to use two headphones.

Q: If I order this here, do I get protools?
