Vagabond Traveler Casual Style Canvas Messenger Bag

I've been searching for a replacement mail bag for over a month. My Fossil bag was getting a bit thread bare and they no longer offer that style in canvas. Fossil offers a very similar style in vinyl but I didn't order it because it's vinyl. I would just as soon carry my belongings in a brown paper bag. I ordered several canvas mail bags from Amazon and one from Zappos. Of the 6 that I ordered, 4 were returned and two I will keep. This one and the Gootium 21217 Canvas Genuine Leather Cross Body Messenger Handbag. I'm a grown man carrying a handbag. Sorry dad.This Vagabond Traveler bag is constructed of very durable canvas with sturdy metal fittings (the advertisement states the fittings are brass. I'll take the add's word for it) and the stitching looks solid. It will surely last a long time and the style is very close to what I was searching for.Here are a few of my concerns. I ordered the Military Green but the bag I received was closer to brown so I washed it, on the hottest settings, with detergent and non-chlorine bleach. It now resembles Military Green. The pockets on the sides are narrow and deep. I put my house keys in one of them and had a bit of difficulty getting them out. I'm not sure if I'll find a use for these pockets but they look cool and they are secured with magnets, which I prefer over Velcro. The front flap is secured with Velcro. I don't like Velcro. I don't understand Velcro. The mail bags that the Pony Express guys used didn't have Velcro. Velcro collects lint, hair, dust and dirt and will eventually be rendered useless. Before I laundered the bag I used a thread pull and carefully removed all 4 Velcro squares. The front flap is long enough and heavy enough to secure the contents of the bag without being fastened with anything. Magnets, buckles or snaps would be preferable. Anything (or nothing) is better than Velcro.My customized Vagabond Traveler bag will serve me well (and it's Velcro free). I'm happy.

This is a very great messenger bag. The canvas material looks like it'll last a long long time without wear and tear, the strap and fasteners are very thick and sturdy so it looks like it'll last also. I wish that the velcro on the inside flap was a little bigger just so that it can have less of a chance to open up, but there is a zipper to close off the main compartment so it's not a big deal. I also like the fast that on the back-outside of the bag, there is a pocket with a zipper to store like a cell phone or wallet to keep it close to your body. When the discription says "green," it means green. It's like an army green with a brown-tan strap. It's very sophisticated. I approve.

Back to school as an older adult, needed "cool factor" along with being highly functional. I love it! This bag is sturdy, well stitched, LOTS of pockets, zippers and secret compartments. Also fits laptop, text books, with separate pockets for i-pod, phone, keys, pencils , calculator and more. It feels just large enough to be on campus all day without feeling like an overnight bag!

This is a heavy duty quality bag. I was originally afraid the fabric would be too thin. It is strong and just the right size. It is also designed well and has practical compartments for anything you want to carry. This should give me years of daily use! Don't wait!

Really nice canvas messenger bag - actual product is true to picture. Although it's not the ideal laptop carrier. Needed to purchase a separate laptop sleeve to make this a viable "work/laptop" bag

It is now my go to overnight bag. Perfect size for a small first aid kit and other emergency items, ipad and Mac air.

I purchased this bag at Christmas for my boyfriend, and he LOVES it!! It fits all he needs daily (a book or two, keys, phone, lunch, and anything else that's a must have for the day)...plenty of room and VERY sturdy...easy to determine that it will last a LONG LONG TIME. The color is great too! Very masculine and a great find!

If your heart is set on Military or any other color green do not buy this bag. It is more like a lite Chocolate brown. Nice color, but certainly not green.
