Gearing is provided by the superb Shimano Nexus 3 speed rear hub gear for maintenance free simplicity and the ability to change gear when stationary at traffic lights, this rear hub also features a handy back pedal brake (this can be used instead of, or in addition to the rear v brake- please bear in mind if you are new to rear hub brake bikes that you cannot pedal backwards as you would on a normal geared bike so it can take a few rides before you fully adjust to the way it works- essentially this just means that when pulling up at junctions you just need to leave the pedal arm in the correct position so that you are ready to pull off and begin riding as normal- this quickly becomes second nature and many people prefer them to normal brakes) The Connect also comes supplied with built in rear U lock, front and rear mudguards a rear pannier rack and essential kick stand for easy storage and parking.
